@@joaovitorcamargo7165 actually Mexico started with a 5 defenders line which isn't how they usually started. So it was hard to create chances there and Mexico's strategy to create pressure for Argentina really worked, there was mispasses by Argentina and I guess Mexico was trying to capitalise on mistakes or counters and it seemed like Mexico didn't even want to try to win even if they aren't safe like Poland which made Argentina even more pressurized because draw isn't good for Argentina. And Argentina couldn't build up a proper goal until then, Messi's long shot really saved the game for them. After the goal, Mexico changed the defensive conservative approach and that's when both teams actually played some interesting football because Mexico started trailing and they were forced to change their defensive tactic.

He is going to start. That is argentina for u, if u score u start in the next game but if u make a costly error you’ll be benched . They’ve been doing this for as long as i can remember and thats one of the reasons why they always struggle to win. They haven’t had a consistent 11 since the 2014 world cup where they actually managed to reach the finals by fighting till the end, however the issue was..that “solid” 11 wasn’t really “solid . Now that they can build a strong solid 11 , good players like romero get benched for one costly mistake, which may be a good enough reason to bench someone but all you’re doing is ruining his confidence even more than it was after having made that mistake.

Mexico had a simple game plan, finish the game 0-0 and beat SA and qualify. They wanted to do whatever was necessary, maintain a deep line, a compact shape, and play very physically. They looked like they wanted to injure the Argentinians! For about 63 minutes this was successful, but if you give Messi even half a yard of space, he will punish you, and *that’s* what made the difference. Now they can no longer resort to the same plan, they have to start to score, and the game opens up for Argentina.

If Mexico had nicked one of their setpieces and successfully packed the bus, they would have been saying masterclass. It's just how these things go, there is no master strategy or master selection, you just do you best to manage as many situations in the game, but you can't manage all of them. It's not like Messi was left in acres of space as they say, watch the goal, he was instantly closed down, but Messi's touch set it up perfectly to be hit very quickly. The game was absolutely not low quality up until the goal. It’s one of the most physical and intense games I’ve ever watched. The first half was a continual battle in the midfield where we saw almost zero chances on either goal because the ball was never actually collected. The work rate from both teams was ridiculous. The second half you started to see more chances because the Mexico players got tired, you can’t keep up that level of intensity and pressure forever. Messi’s goal was literally the first time at any point in the game that a player got the ball in space in a dangerous position. And he punished the very first defensive error by Mexico. For me the best game of the tournament so far, I was insanely impressed by the toughness of both teams and the persistence of Argentina. Was a blast to watch

Scaloni did great subs, Fernandez and Alvarez made great impact of the game in 2nd half. Argentina responded with pure class and maybe this win will remove alot of pressure and tansion from their shoulders. Time will tell, but one thing for sure, if Argentina beat Poland and win the group, they will be motivated big time to go far in the tournament.

These pundits are hypocrites. Them criticizing Tata just proves it. That Mexico defence wouldn't have been that compact with a different defense setup. Messi scored with Argentina's first or second shot on target. Before then, Argentina struggled to break through that defense. Give the man some credit.

No man what they’re saying here all makes sense, great video by them. The managers both needed to up their tactical formations but it looks like momentum is back on Argentinas side so they better keep their stride

00:14 awful? that game was a foul fest! nobody could do anything! The ref ruined the game. he should have dished 10 yellows at the start so people could actually dribble and play. There was 35 fouls that game and only 4 yellows. France and Denmark had 13 fouls and 3 yellows. Let that sink in. 00:57 You assume it was all pressure but it became a different game because Mexico needed a goal and started pushing numbers up the field which opened up the field

This panel is clueless. Argentina lost their first game so were under immense pressure. Mexico isn't stupid, they knew that. Of course Mexico played a low block! They knew Argentina would get nervous the longer the game went on deadlocked, maybe lose heart. Maybe get desperate and push too many players forward and get burned on a counter. The plan was fine, Argentina just overcame it.
