CORRECTION: The usable LP tank size on the Sequence is 16LBS not 16 gallons. My apologies everyone! How do you think the new Sequence compares with the Travato?
@alliejr5 жыл бұрын
It compares well. In fact, I am shocked. I like the Sequence. I love the automotive exterior. From my (limited) knowledge of fluid dynamics, galley windows open and rear exhaust fan should create a nice interior airflow through the bedroom. I just wish it were all electric rather than using a gas generator and (huge) propane heating/cooking tank.

Having camped in warm weather in our Travato 59K for almost 4 years now, opening windows in the back by the beds is absolutely essential. We don't want to run the AC all the time. When it's raining for example, and our slider windows have to remain closed, we use Eurocamper vents in the chassis windows up front and the bathroom fan to pull some air back to the bedroom section. We combine that with small 12V fans. That is just barely adequate for sleeping. The acrylic awning windows in new T's do allow you to have ventilation even in the rain. I just cannot imagine trying to sleep in a hot, stuffy van as a normal practice since there's no way to open the windows beside the beds.

Solid Review! Thanks for mentioning the windows. I was sold on this model over the Travato K(L) until you said the Thor windows don't open in the bed area. That's CRAZY. The shower curtain installation (and doors) are superior to the Travato though. T folks have been bugging Winnebago for this for a while. I bet a quarter that they'll change the windows on next year's model. edit: I contacted them about the rear bedroom windows and they said they would forward my request to the dev team. Don't know if that produces any weight, but if everyone did it, the following year might tack on back windows that open so go for it!

Another great video, Neil. Wife and I are always eager to see your reviews on just about anything. In the past 40+ yrs, we have had about 30 RV's from small to large 42 ft. & were class B's. Right now we are without and are seriously looking. Wife thinks maybe a Class A like a Breeze mainly because of the floor width for our Greyhound to turn around. I am thinking more like the Sequence so it can be treated like our 2nd car to drive regularly if needed. I am tired of paying for the real expensive yearly tags and ins. for a RV that is just sitting until you can use it for camping only. Right now we are leaning toward the Leisure Travel Wonder RTB for it's width and it in town drivability. or a rear twin bed like the Sequence. We had a 2014 Pleasureway Plateau XLMB with we loved. but when the bed was down and the dog needed out I had to make the wife get up so I could raise for the dog to get out the door. Maybe in the future you could address the floor widths for so many of us that have a large dog that has to turn around in. Thank you for all that you do!

Great review. I think Thor was smart and standardized on things that Travado nickel and dimes on. I hope Thor is listening here about the screen for the back and adding flip open rain proofed windows at least at the bottom of those beautiful windows (something that I’ve seen on airstreams). If they did that I’d go for one of these puppies and add lithium. I bet we’ll see Activ style class B vans coming out soon too...offshoots of Roadtrek and Hymer style class Bs. They needed to come out with an oblique shot across the bow of Winnebago given both of them as big boys. 😊 I hope they build a GL style class B because I like the front lounge for working better than what is provided in this K style but it still works better than Winnebago when you look at the standard items provided. I’m excited. Keep us updated when other models appear in this line of Thor’s.

Neil! Hello from Florida. After watching your video on this Thor Sequence, I drove over to Tampa to look at a couple of them in person. Wow. This is quite possibly a perfect Class B. On initial impression, the build quality is very good, actually better than the Airstream Interstate that was parked nearby. So much light, space, and very well executed storage. Here’s another interesting point, it was $79,995 brand new. That’s a pretty sweet price point. On a second note, would you please review the new Coachmen CrossTrek 20xg. Good review Neil. Pricing on the Sequence is terrific especially considering the many features that are standard versus optional on the Travato K. But the non-opening bedroom windows are a non-starter, I can't imagine not having a cross breeze across the beds while sleeping. Non opening windows is unexplainable. Unless the coach is always used where it's hot with AC running constantly. Hopefully Thor addresses this oversight quickly.
@alliejr5 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong, but the combination of rear exhaust fan and open galley windows should create a really nice air flow through the bedroom area.

@@alliejr We’ll have to wait for some early user reports but I know I prefer a direct air flow for sleeping. I mean, you can always leave the back doors open too but the Sequence doesn’t offer a screen so that would have to be retro-fitted. Hi Neil: Thank you for an excellent review. The pricing is surely tempting. I was wondering how you feel the build quality and components that the two manufacturers use compare. I know Pleasure Way’s Lexor is thousands, even tens of thousands more but when you buy a class B it seems to make sense to me buy for the long term (in my judgment that’s 10 years or more). Therefore quality is most important. From your Pleasure Way reviews it’s apparent that you love their quality. Also I’ve noticed that in the older van resale market, you’ll find 10-15 year old PW b class van still holding up beautifully. Also some RoadTrek models have done quite well. If you were buying a B class on a Promaster chassis, how do you rank the comparative values of these three models? And are there any other Promaster vans that you would recommend we consider?

Great review and Thanks! I would also love to have a comparison to Embassy RV which is trying to complete in the same market. I didn't hear anything about being able to set the temperature (either AC or heat) and allow it to come on and run when temperature changes below limits you set (I don't know what this is called), running AC off shore, and as always I see very little about the seating capacity. In one picture i saw seatbelts on the passenger side bed but they didn't look to be 3 point - you didn't mention it in your review and it's not mentioned on the website. I want to be able to transport more than 2 people (like how about adding grandkids) and it seems like very few of these affordable vans offer more than two seatbelts.

Multiplex wiring seems to be a plus, I guess... but everything else... meh. Included options are nice, but no real info on price to compare, so are they really included or just tacked on to the price? No option for lithium or Pure3 right now, so kind of a deal breaker. Also watched Thor's intro to the Sequence and found out you need rods to keep the awning up (how turn of the century of them!). This is just a warmed over Travato K with some minor additions but no innovation.

What's your opinion on a layout like this as opposed to a layout like in the Panoramic? Does it feel smaller? Is storage noticeably less? Does it feel like much more trouble to set up your bed every day rather than having a bed that's always there?
@Ultramobility5 жыл бұрын
i like the panoramic's layout. you get a highly functional, permanent front lounge where the bench seat is an actual seat and sits at the right height and depth with proper lumbar support compared to bench seats that are doubling as beds and sit too high and are too deep for sitting on. plus on the panoramic you get a garage when you fold up the bed. the bathroom on the sequence is much larger however.

I had a Class B with a RAM front end (Roadtrek Zion). I now have a B+ (Thor Gemini), with a Ford Transit Diesel. BOTH "front ends" I like but I'm considering "down sizing" BACK to a Class B. I REALLY liked the ability to use my Roadtrek as a "utility van". In fact I moved ALL the furniture in my house in the back (the Zion with the side by side bed arrangement). I also like the ability to move long pieces of lumber down the center aisle (which I can't do with my current B+). I LIKE THOR. The quality is pretty good although, as they admit, they need to tighten up, a bit, on their quality checks coming off their assembly lines. No problems buying another Thor RV, though. I think, for the low prices they charge and the fairly decent finish on the inside furnishings, they're a VERY strong competitor to ANY of the other RV manufacturers in North America. Doesn't Thor own Airstream? They've been building Class B rigs for sometime now. Great review. Thanks!

How is the reputation of Thor building quality. I've heard some nasty reviews of things just too rushed. Thank you so much for reviewing all these. For sure helps

Do those couches have seat belts? I like there to be other passenger seating others with is only a 2 passenger vehicle. I like the bathroom in the back for the back windows and size. I usually like the passenger seats where the 2nd row seating would be, like a lot of European Class B’s do it. Then the kitchen and bed in the middle
@icholakov5 жыл бұрын
The Thor video shows 2 lap belts on the couch behind the driver like the Travato. It is still a two passenger vehicle.

Hi Neil, thanks for another great review. Would you please review the new Winnebago Solis? It seems to be bundling up the best of the Travato G and the Revel, and improving on both (to my mind). If they offer it with the Volta system I won't be able to stop myself from spending the grandkids college funds! I'm interested in your review.

Love that it has multiplex wiring and local and remote touchpanel controls. What about cabinet construction? Sticks and staples like the Travato? That's a deal breaker for me with Winnebago.
@JimCouillard5 жыл бұрын
The fact that the Truma water and furnace heat only work on Propane is a deal breaker for me. That and the lack of a rear retractable screen and bed area not having vents on the windows....
@1bike105 жыл бұрын
Very cool. Hopefully they make a rear lounge version.

Very interesting , would a max air fan in the bathroom help alleviate some of the ventilation concerns ?
@Ultramobility5 жыл бұрын
maybe?... i'm not sure. there really needs to be opening windows (with screens) in your bedroom in my opinion.
@michaelgehrke92975 жыл бұрын
@@Ultramobility I agree . But a higher grade fan wouldn't hurt , and it would probably help the situation .

So any impression of overall build quality ? (I'm guessing about like the Travato). Also wish they had positive locking latches on those cabinets, etc...Still, like you said - price isn't bad. But if I were in the market for a Promaster-based coach, I might be more keen on price-shopping a PW Lexor.

I like it. Shouldn't be too hard to buy and install a Travato rear screen. Regarding the propane, 16 pounds equal 3.8 gallons for people who are asking. I wonder if bathroom fan on exhaust and galley fan on in would create enough airflow, or as someone else pointed out galley windows open in lieu of the fan.

Thor quality and warranty service is terrible. Spent $165,000.00 at Camping World on a new Omni super C and it is still in for warranty service, now for three months, and never used or useable since new in June 2019.

Neal, I completely agree with you that it should have had opening windows in the back.....I didn't particularly like the fact that these coaches like the Travato have "permanent beds". And, I don't know how comfortable or safe it would be to be riding in the back, sitting sideways.....Do these things even have seat belts for passengers in the back? I personally think that having a convertible sofa bed in the back is still the most versatile arrangement for a Class B RV...my opinion. -- Mark

Many RV'ers are solo travelers. I would like to see them do away with 2 twin beds and just offer a wet bath, a single twin and large wardrobe in the place of the room that the extra twin takes up. Yeah, then I would consider one of these type of vans.

Thank you, great review as always. It is hard to review this RV without making a direct item to item comparison with the Travato. A few items I was wondering about: 1. Does the multiplex wiring system (android minicomputer) consume 1A of power constantly? If that is the case the constant parasitic load may become a problem and one more power appliance to manage. I think you have one on the Ascent may be you can clarify. (2) Thor did not explain the make and model of the AC unit which has lower capacity than the Travato. I would be curious to know if it is a noise or a quiet unit. (3) The Thor Sequence comes with autostart capability standard - that is a nice feature (4) I watched the promotional video that Thor made and the awning seemed a little flimsy. Hopefully that is not the case. And one more thing - there is no roof rack for possible modifications and aftermarket equipment. That should have been a cheap but very helpful feature to provide. I think this is a great starter and they are probably collecting features to include in the Sequence 2.0

Thank you for the review. I was almost tempted to start the trade in process until the lack of opening windows was mentioned. I have to have a window open where I sleep. I am wondering why they chose not to. Yes, it looks sleek but feels stuffy.

Great cargo capacity.Still, some national parks will NOT allow any vehicle longer that 20’ all inclusive on some roads ( including bumper, bike rack, etc) and it does NOT fit in a regular parking space. “Almost“ does not count. 190 watt solar a bit light. Good price? 4x4 price? Also nice big fresh water and propane tanks. I’d also ding it for the refrigerator on the floor and there is no Lithium, hence the price. All that said, I like Thor. HUGE value! No back screen cuz it’s the bathroom. I get it but ventilation needs to be evaluated by buyers.

Good comparison Neil. I'm curious if the new Pleasure Way Ontour will be a direct competitor with Thor & Winnebago of if they'll price it into a higher $$ bracket? Competition and consumer choices are good!!

I have a photography site that I would like to use for this and my amazon site is the common list site. Your's is really customized nicely. Appreciate any recommendation. Thanks.
