Welcome, everyone to Autogefühl, your number 1 resource for in-depth car reviews. Thomas here today is showing you the all-new Ford Mustang. For our American friends, it's not that you because the car is out in the 6th generation now. It's the end of 2014, but for all our European fans and especially in Germany, It is really all-new because only the 1st generation has been sold here in Germany in 1964 was the 1st generation actually. And now, actually, it's finally available from the manufacturer itself in Europe here again.

I have the 2013 Volvo S60 T4: I am happy with the 240 Nm of torque and the nice quality interior but a convertible would be nice. The Bentley Continental GTC W12 is out of my league and I don't want to step down on interior quality and I don't want a cloth drop-top. I thought of the Lexus IS C but the 1.8L V4 is weaker than my Volvo, so my decision is to stay happy with my Volvo.

One of your best reviews! "the V8 sound is quite emotional!" "Pure autogefuhl!" Yes! The car has some bad plastic but I would love to drive one on the autobahn and through the alps! The 2018 Mustang will have the Magneride electromagnetic shocks which GM developed which will give it much better ride.

I personally got the GT Fastback manual. I love it. There are several differences. For one, the headlights have the "tiger claw" structure, which in the US function as day time running lights. In Europe you have to settle with the fog lamps as day time running lights. Second point of interest, the US version has functional hood vents where the EU version does not. Third, the mirrors in the US are more streamlined and (in my opinion) better looking. Fourth, the US version has sequential turn signal lights and are all red. The EU version is white covered, with two of the three LED bars red, and an amber turn light. Fifth, the side marker lights are amber in the EU and red in the US.

I am also in Australia and already have my Race Red GT manual. Interesting that the Recaro Seats are an option on the European Model. We do not have that as an option here in Australia otherwise I would of considered them. In fact the Options/Accessories list for the Mustang here in Australia is very limited. We do get the Brembo Brakes and 19in wheels. Plus it looks like you can have the upgraded Shaker Sound System. This we also miss out on. We do not have the subwoofer in the boot. I noticed when you lifted the floor of the boot besides the pump for a flat tyre there was something blue sitting next to the air pump. I am wondering what that was. Your video was very informative, Thankyou

Thomas if you like the mustang i think you'd love the new Camaro. I hope you guys get it in europe. It is incredibly good around corners (identical test figures to the BMW M4). We can get the 1SS trim (6.2 455hp 455lb/ft) with the m/t for as little as $37,100. the 8spd auto is a lot faster too. 0-100km in 4.0 flat. and it is very stable at 275km/hr.

Thinking the best bet is a V6 Mustang convertible. It has almost the same power as a ten year old GT, and nearly half the cost of a new GT and similar power to the turbo. And it uses regular not premium fuel.

Awesome review! I actually like the Mustang and I would go for the coupe because the chassis is stiffer and of course for the V8. However the interior quality is a big let down. If Ford can improve the interior quality and design, I think it could be real game changer in Europe or at least a solid competitor.

@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 8 жыл бұрын
+Bálint Ronga Hey! Thanks for that. The Cayman is the racing machine with incredible handling. But the Mustang is way more comfortable - and to me somehow more special, but maybe thats why I am German and Mustangs arent around that often here :) Most important aspect though is: You can buy 2 or 3 Mustangs for one Cayman S :D So if you take pricing and comfort into concern, I d for sure go for the Mustang.
@balintronga7575

+Autogefühl thank you for your fast response! it can be hard to compare this two cars :) to be honest, in my opinion the porsche looks way better, and Im really interested in how the mid-engine feels like to drive. So, as for me, the porsche is the exotic one but of course the mustang is a beauty too. I have an old bmw 735 and I'd like to try someting different, so I still prefer the Cayman,but your expert opinion is important for me, so thank you!

@meshplates
@meshplates 6 жыл бұрын
Bálint Ronga i am debating the same cars. There is no doubt that the Mustang lacks the sophistication and engineering of the Porsche but the Mustang is more fun. German cars are a bit serious. Another point is fuel consumption. Doing long trips in Europe in a Mustang 5.0 might be a lot of fun but you've got to be prepared for a lot of extra cost at the pump. On the down side this may discourage long high speed 160kmh+ autobahn drives.

Best european review so far, well done!! The interior is light years away from the previous generation (I own a 2012 V6), I also have the leather seats in it and have no problems with sweat (even though I sweat a lot :) ). The hood vents on the GT would have been nice for EU as well (wonder what regulation(s) for pedestrian safety did not make that possible since other brands such as Subaru have huge vents on the hood...). For me the only disadvantage of the EU model is the tri-bar daytime running lights which Ford disabled for the EU!!! Those lights just gave the mustang a killer look. Many complain about the tail lights beeing white instead of red like the US version. Well in my honest opinion I have to say that the white looks great with many colors. Plus the EU version gets the gas cap style on the trunk where the GT/Pony logo is contrary to the US model, so defintely a plus for me. I ordered a Deep Impact Blue GT Fastback with the Premium pack, I hope the dealer can switch the tri-bar DRLs back (fingers crossed...). Now just have to wait for september :(. Continue the good vids!!!
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 9 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Motte thanks! Interesting point with the tri-bar stuff, but you can see them in the EU lights, they are just not activated or how does it work?
@NicoMCH666
@NicoMCH666 9 жыл бұрын
***** well on the EU version daytime running lights (tagfahrlicht) are embedded in the fog lights which are not that pretty as those 3 bars. But when you have the xenon lights on, for let's say at night or in a tunnel then you can see the tri-bar lights "on". I say it like this because they are actually not on but just illuminated by the xenon lights. Sad they did this but I am pretty sure the dealers can switch them back on, well let's hope for it :)

They had to fit a different exhaust manifold to conform with EU emissions bs. On the Europe cars, the tail lights are not sequential, and the tribar led drls are deactivated. The bonnet scoops have also been removed due to 'concerns over pedestrian safety'.

Great review! I'm looking at putting an order in for the GT Fastback manual in Race Red. Honestly I'm not too fussed about not getting the burnout feature here as I'd rather keep the tires for longer than a day, but it's only a software tweak away if needed ;) It's been a long wait for an RHD Mustang and the waiting time for delivery is pretty long here in Australia, but it's worth the wait. A little disappointed that we don't get the hood vents and memory seats like in the US, but that's not a deal breaker.

Just picked up a used 2015 convertible GT 5.0 in the competition orange. Only 2300 miles on it in 2021 a Florida car! Upgrade from our 2006 Dodge Charger R/T with just 11000 miles on it. To be very honest this is a great driving car and very comfortable. Sound is awesome and the car feels very tight from what we were used to. The only down side I can say is not as good on fuel mileage as the Charger but we didn’t buy it for that. I normally get a back ache after driving more than an hour and with this car I never get one! Nothing about this car I don’t like.

Hello Thomas. Gorgeous exterior, no? When I was a kid my aunt bought new a 1970 fastback and the styling back then was very similar. I like the way they retained the old look but with modern style elements. My wife and I rented a mustang convertible in Hawaii a couple of years ago. A blast to drive topless but the driving dynamics were about as good as the sofa in my living room! However when we got back my bimmer felt like an LMP1 car :) Can you tell us what the tax implications are in Deutschland for a 5 litre engine?? Thanks again. The V8 did sound great.

I'm impressed! Yes, the interior quality is not so great, and the trunk door doesn't pass the Thomas sound test when you close it, but those shortcomings are offset by the low price and the very nice exterior and interior styling. I wonder about the handling though. American cars are known for going fast in a straight line but being a mess in the curves. Thomas, what do you think? Also I would like to see the Mustang offered in a two door sedan version. I think the 1960s sedan was the most handsome of the mustang hardtops.

+Autogefühl Haha, no, I'm talking about the Mustang GT350R. Ford put a flat plane crank V8 in the Mustang that puts out 526bhp. It has magnesium rims, new suspension, and carbon fiber body panels. I also apologize for not referring to it as the Shelby GT350R... probably source of some of the confusion.

Regarding engines and relaxed driving, I think the larger V8 would be more relaxing because at low RPM's you can do easily whatever you need, while with the smaller turbo charged engine you have to bring in higher Rpm's and psychologically speaking, that does make for more tension, even if the tension does translate to excitement.

Hey, I would like to know your opinion for the convertible since you have tested it. We the top is closed, is there too much road/wind noise? Does the top wobbles a lot? Overall is the cabin quiet when the top is closed!

Good question. In the US, cloth seats are available as far as I know, but not in the EU. As far as I read it from the price list, the middle part of the seats are genuine leather, the outer parts leatherette.

Good review, as usual. I prefer the coupé but still undecided re. V8 or turbo engine. There is an enormous difference in consumption. Two things: 1) are ALL Mustangs made in the US or are some being made in Germany? 2) No mention of either windbrake ( even in catalogue ) or roll over protection. That concerns me.
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 9 жыл бұрын
TheMister Mann yeah, all Mustangs are made in the Flat Rock plant in Michigan. Imho it is not allowed to build convertibles without roll over protection, especially in the US. That was the reason the Porsche Targa emerged :)
@lefuedebout
@lefuedebout 9 жыл бұрын
I agree re. the law referring to roll over protection. It surprised me that no mention of this protection was in your review or in any I've seen so far. SO, question is, how have they got away with it? ( P.S. reason I asked where all Mustangs are made is, I've seen an advert in an on-line German site offering any new Mustang in 3 days, guaranteed ....... possible? )

I love this car. I will never drive one, but still, I love it. I would go for the 2.3 ecoboost as the V8 is almost twice the price of the ecoboost in NL because of CO2 taxation. I also would go for automatic as I am lazy and too old to drive too fast.

I have the GT Coupe ordered. I am interested in your comments about the differences from the USA models (especially for right hand drive in Australia). What sticks out to me like a cocktail bar in the middle of the Sarah Desert is there are no vents on the bonnet for the GT - USA GT models have vents on the bonnet. Also the rear tail lights for non-USA cars are different, we get clear tail lights and the outer lights are the indicators, not tail lights- which means we lose the 3x3 red tail lights and sequential affects available in the USA - very disappointing. Also, the 3x3 stripe running lights at the front - it appears that these don't automatically come on and stay on with the ignition is started like the USA models - very disappointing. I just hope the after market will come up with a fix so that the pony car lights can be changed to operate like the USA models as these are features of the traditional pony car - even though technically illegal - does it really matter - I see Audi and Mercs and Jap cars with front LED running lights permanently on - so why cant the Mustang have the 3 stripe front running lights permanently on.

Samsgarden Animals are born to be killed although there is no need to eat or wear them, they are enslaved, tortured and in case of leather, both humans and animals have to suffer from chemicals in the production. Animal products are combined with suffering that's why noone who has a part of compassion in his/her heart could buy animal products if he/she really thinks about it how it is being produced

The 1965 Mustang Fastback was the best ever looking Mustang, it certainly appealed to me as a 9 year-old boy. This version isn't too bad (compared to all those others in-between), but it's put on a lot of weight and doesn't have the beautiful looks of the Audi/VW cars. The interior reminds me of the cheap-looking Ford F-150 interior. Give me a VW Golf R any day of the week (or even the VW Passat 2.0 BITDI 4Motion). This Mustang is still for Schoolboys to dream over.
