It’s gotten them extreme polarization where low-information people who never otherwise would have voted do because it’s easy and they are peer pressured into doing so. That’s turned it into a contest for turnout, which means a contest for the extremes. When it is more difficult to vote (in a physical sense, in that you have to go down to the polls), it tends to become a contest for the middle (as politics always was until the last decade, coinciding with the rise of mail-in voting) and polarization decreases. The more states go for mail-in ballots, the more polarized society will continue to be because those low information voters will continue to make the difference.

This was a really good interview. Dasha didn't let him off the hook with the stock answers and DeSantis took every follow-up punch and answered pretty directly. DeSantis has been carefully trained and has a lot of canned responses. It's nice to see him go off the cuff when pressed because he doesn't do it often in normal interviews. Two people having a conversation and the media taking the candidate to task when warranted which is what we should have.

It’s kind of shocking that Bash let him get away with jabbering away about critical race theory as if it’s actually taught in public schools. It’s not. She did a good job at tangling with him about abortion, but here’s the thing: in all of these interviews throughout this whole election, he is going to try to steamroll the interviewer. He’s always talking about narratives, but he shouldn’t be allowed to talk on and on without interruption, thus spreading his narrative of success at the expense of being called to task about some really problematic issues that are not solely policy in nature but personal.

He has to have time to respond, untangle, and correct the false narrative she tries to spin her questions in. She was so incredibly biased in her questions the way she kept phrasing them.
