The steel storage tank your using will rust on the inside in time as you add small amounts of moisture from air during the recapturing of the butane.. Just so u know its extremely dangerous. It's cheaper then a stainless steel tank though your risking your health . If ur going to use any tank but especially a steel tank u MUST have an air moisture scrubber like the ones you have on pneumatic air tanks or lines. A molecular sieve of 3A type will eliminate any moisture/ dirty end chain molecules from your butane and steel tank. Providing you with a clean end chain free butane and safe extraction

You don't need a drier filter like that on a small passive closed loop system like this. Unless he is doing hundreds of runs for black market commercial production, not enough moisture is going to get in there, especially if he stores it full, and/or he back fills it with nitrogen when it is stored empty.

Tap the cans into a solvent tank. The tappers have no valves, so you can't keep vacuum when going from one can to the next. The butane you tap in the can is liquid, so fill into the liquid valve.

Totally appreciate how you knock bits of dry ice off bare-handed, but wear protection at 28:00 when handling larger amounts. It very clearly demonstrates adjusting your "safety-level" so to speak. Might I suggest though, keeping a paintbrush handy? I use one for cleaning a lot, and found it has been very helpful in a number of scenarios. In this case quicker, easier, cleaner brushing of ice chunks.

@yoloextraction3352

We have done runs with dumps and without, if you have a larger collection you can just wash more instead of the soak. Yield is mostly a quality factor and watching to run clear. You can add a valve between the collection and the material column they are for sell separately on 710snob.com . This video was just a quick run for the base system.

No it is not safe, you could blow up, use temperature to move the gas from one tank to the other. Use hot water to heat the butane tank and keep recovery cold. Reverse process to recover. And by not soaking the butane, allot of cbds and the thca can be missed. But some people prefer less plant fats in there product, that's why the initial contact is kept cold, via ice column.. now there are pumps made for transferring butane that are very expensive, but that would be an active system not passive.. When you do this, study from experience and use common sense and be careful, very careful...

I have the 1lb master blaster as well. After watching this video 5-6 times now, I think I'm ready to run. After packing the column, are you using about 5lbs of butane? Also, you mention double washing vs letting things soak a bit. Neither helped very much? 2% difference in yield vs just a straight dump?

These extractors are way out of spec. The collection pot is less than half the size necessary to run the appropriate amount of solvent needed. I've added a 6x12" spool to the existing 6x6. Also, the 3x24 column holds closer to 600g. Biggest gripe is the rounded edges of the shatter platter. It's a terrible design and it's the next thing to replace on mine. You really want as much surface area on the base of your cls. I've now done about 15 extractions, and have added a drier filter, dewax column and dump valve. Getting a pair of #50 recovery tanks to speed the passive process. If you plan to go bigger than 1200g a day, I strongly recommend buying a mkiv style machine with at least a 10x10" collection pot. Get the parts list from skunkpharm research and order the parts @glaciertanks.com. Too easy to assemble.
@yoloextraction3352
@yoloextraction3352 7 жыл бұрын
this system is $1650 ready to rock passive. Very simple system that anyone can run, yes you can buy some additional items to speed things up. Stock with a 6" x 12" collection , shatter platter is rounded bottom same as the term. Your mk4 reference is just an extractor for $5000 a night and day difference With any system you pay to play. We have extra tanks, stainless tanks, molecular sieve, recovery pumps, cmepol , inline dewax as you jacketed material column is not a dewax,

Brian Epstein at one point all one pound systems had 6x6 collections with welded bottom, then the removable bottom with shatter platter optional, (many companies you still get basic style with shatter platter as an upgrade) 710snob has many options of collections, flat bottom platter, round bottom platter, jacketed shatter platter and the solid bottom. Depending on price range the end user want to spend, we don't offer the baby or mini systems as you will out grow and have parts that are not usable . Everyone has different tech or that buddy that tells you what to get so an out of box extractor that has everything you will ever want doesn't exist ,

Best to fill column out of the liquid side of the tank?
@MCBeee
@MCBeee 3 жыл бұрын
It's pushing out liquid butane first. In-depth Explanation. These tanks have a line from the valve to the bottom to have the gaseous phase inside push the liquid out from the bottom though the tube to the valve. There are a few designs or applications for tanks. Anti-siphoning tank would be best applied to paintball so liquid isn't taken up into the paintball marker and making it inopperable. It's designed with a tube end, a U-bend or a slight bend from the valve into the tank, to be only in the gaseous phase and as the gas leaves it allows the liquid phase to turn to gas. This videos application, siphons the liquid out instead. There are actually quite a few of common applications for this. Spray paint, shaving cream, whip cream, or the fake cheese spread inside of a cylinder with a gas to directly push out, or siphon out, the product to wherever it needs to be applied.

I'm kinda curious why people chill the chamber before vacuuming it out. I've always done the opposite, I vacuum everything down, backfill with nitrogen up to 50 psi to test seals, release, then the final vacuum down before adding ice. My mindset being that decreasing the pressure while keeping the temperature relatively high will make it easier to liberate and evaporate away any remaining moisture in the system. Chilling the system first would trap moisture wouldn't it?
@davidlagle6840
@davidlagle6840 5 жыл бұрын
ElectricAvian Your seal test is spot on. Remember “nature deplores a vacuum” It’s easier to test for leaks while under a vacuum. Watch your gauges. Also, there is no such thing as a perfect vacuum of 30 inches of mercury. The best nature will give you is 29.99 inches. Now the reason for chilling the tanks and vessels is to maintain lower temperatures which means lower pressures in recovery tank which increases your delta P. Ie differential pressure from tank to tank. Pressure always flows from high side to the lower side. Basically it speeds in the recovery of the gases. Hope it helps and good luck out there.
@hc2013
@hc2013 5 жыл бұрын
@@davidlagle6840 He knows why people use cold temperatures during the extraction process but he was stating that he doesnt know why some people use cold temps while vacuuming down the system before the extraction process. It makes more sense to heat up the chamber your pulling a vacuum on because the air and moisture will more readily evaporate and leave the chamber, which will make the process go faster.

ebillot656 what's your end game? If your making distillate you need another $25000 of equipment, if your just wanting to make oil then this system will handle just that, the first part of the puzzle, you can go mild to wild. Check out 710snob.com

Daft as it may sound, the big problem where I live is dry ice - it's almost impossible to source. I doubt there's anywhere within 100 miles of me selling it, and yes there are places that will ship it to me but it's damn DAMN expensive ! It's just not a thing that's readily available in the UK unless you live in London maybe or some other very big city, and even then the cost is stupid.

ebillot656 depends on your tech, this system can get you going with just a vacuum pump, material and butane. On a budget you can't beat this system, try to find a $1650 system that has shatter platter, high pressure clamps, Swagelok gauge, one line and a dot made in USA tank

ebillot656 710snob.com is the site, and yes on the site it is $1450 shipped to the continental USA , its extractor with high pressure clamps, shatter platter, sight windows, Swagelok gauge, one line and a Manchester steel tank. Other options are available if no tank or lines are needed. Grab a can tapper if you will be filling using small butane cans from the smoke shop

why did u release the butane out of your tank then make a vacuum on your recovery...? your loosing butane and causing a point for moisture to go in the tank. and if you had the slightest amount of butane left in that tank when u pulled that vacuum u coulda blew up or caused a small internal explosion within your vacuum pump. i have never seen someone pull a vac on their recovery tank however using cold and hot temps you will realize u aint gotta do all thos steps and you can let the butane do the work for ya and save your tanks. otherwise great video

@710snob7

Robert Bradford your pulling a vacuum on the system before tane is introduced, most use a standard vacuum pump for this.
@robertbradford3461
@robertbradford3461 6 жыл бұрын
710 SNOB no you're pulling tane when you vac the tank, just because you don't hear it does not meant there's no gas, hence why the face mask, and the finished product is super gassy will have to be put back under vac to pull it off or slow purge over days. Did you purge the tank? No, then there's still gas in there. And that does not mean just open the valve because that does not purge the tank, it equalizes the pressure
@710snob7
@710snob7 6 жыл бұрын
Robert Bradford ok I should have asked what process you were referring too, the tank for initial fill is empty and you pull vac on the whole system, and fill with solvent. You close tank off and pull vac on the system , the collection will always have tane for a pour or your scraping taffy, no need to pull a vac when you use heat or cold to do that, the vacuum is to get initial air out of system
@710snob7
@710snob7 6 жыл бұрын
Robert Bradford you purge your finish oil in the oven or vac chamber or some still off gas outside if temps are right.
@robertbradford3461
@robertbradford3461 6 жыл бұрын
710 SNOB whatever, you were still bubbling when you pulled it which means vac pressure would've pulled more gas off than that so you pulled hella early because you released hecka pressure, and you opened it and it was still purging gas in open air, come on I don't know very much about this particular practice but I do know that, so are you saying that the vacuum pressure was not sufficient to pull more?

Pretty much the only loss, is contained in the oil bubbles . The start up costs are a bit high, but the savings in solvent recovery add up quickly, not to mention the safety factor too. Closed loop pretty much says it all haha :)
