My name is Eric and I travel with my cat, “Jax” in a 2001 Chevy Fleetwood Tioga Arrow 24D Class C RV. We travel about 45 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round. Here are some popular questions asked:

Great trip. My wife and I have just retired and plan on traveling Route 66 from Chicago to LA. You always wanted to be a teacher. Eric, you are a teacher. You have given us the courage to live our dreams and travel. Only a great teacher can accomplish that. My wife and I are retired teachers from Alaska-40 years and enjoyed every year. We willl be traveling with our German Shepherd and cat!

As a kid we traveled from Chicago to Grandma's in St. Louis 6 times a year. The best part was the food along the way. Few favorites, were Howard Johnson's and a little place called Steak On A Stick, it was a soft breadstick filled with primerib meat, very Yummy. When they closed, my dad quit taking old 66.

The tinting has got to help with the heat and privacy..Here in C.FL. you are crazy not to have tinted windows in both your car and house. I love how you stop at quirky side of the road points of interest...this is the kind of travel that keeps the journey interesting. The idea of interstate travel w/o stopping accept for gas is a left over from having a 'vacation time period' or mindset and you have to rush to get where ever and get back..it's not RV'g.. Thank you for sharing...

Getting the windows tinted is a great idea. My rig has tinted windows also, but when I was camping in hot weather I noticed that the windows get extremely hot. I went online and found some great window coverings for when I am camping. I saw other RVer's use them in Arizona. They keep the windows cool so that there is less heat coming into my my motorhome. They aren't cheap but they were worth the cost. To get them you need to measure your windows and give the company a call with all window measurements. They will mail the window coverings to you. There are several ways to attach them to your rig. I am happy with them as they keep out the heat and I don't have to use the air conditioner as much. You can still see through your windows. I don't work for the company, but if anyone is interested I can send a picture of my rig and you can order them if you like.

I travel every week for work. One of my biggest pet peeves is the no receipt paper at the pump. ESPECIALLY at gas stations near the airports...all of us need receipts for expense reports and it really bugs me...glad I'm not alone.

We just came from Chicago and there was not many campgrounds anywhere near, we stayed at Hollywood casino in Joliet and met up with Tim from "Tim Rover" and he took us up in to Chicago and showed us around.

I remember when tape cassettes first came out. They were cutting edge technology. Many of us still had eight-track tape players, though. We would hit the pawn shops, where you could get eight-track tapes for $1 each, or trade in 2 for 1. I still have all my truck stop cassette tapes from my over-the-road days, but who has a working tape deck anymore? Truckers and their piss jugs...ugh. You will love the tint on the motorhome. But you will find that certain States will pull you over for tint on the front door windows. Good luck.

To really cool down you need to slap Reflectix on some of those sun-facing windows. Black tint absorb sunlight and radiate the heat inward. The Reflectix will insulate the windows. In fact if you do it for the front cabin windscreen alone, it would cut the heat down a lot.

I love that antique store. It's about 30 mins from my house. It's probably been 2 years since I've been there and they've added so much. That diner is new and several of those giant figures. I've read that they've traveled to Florida to pick up some of those figures.

Love it! Looks great. I was going to suggest that you do a pre-cleaning of the windows yourself first because some shops don't bother to do a thorough cleaning, which leaves bubbles and dust behind.

Eric, if you didnt already know this, remember to never use any product what contains ammonia to clean the inside of the windows, that's how people end up with purple tint, lol

You can park at McCormick Place parking lot located at the lakefront Chicago it's not free but it's the best place to park for an RV and be in the city and you're also on the lakefront

Nice tint job! I did mine shortly after I got it and it really made a huge difference in temp and privacy. Mine was rated 35% and I did 5% limo on the cabover window. Yours at 5% looks to be the same darkness as my 35% does. Weird. It does give a cool factor too. Take care! -Jon
