This gives them valuable feedback, and helps to improve the software. I took delivery May 29 last year of my Model Y. By the end of July I thought I may have made a mistake buying a Tesla. Then the other day I received the notice that I now had FSD V12.3. Then Thursday I Received email saying I had FSD (Supervised). Took a short test drive and was very impressed! Today did a 40 mile round trip to pick up a few things and Sparky (my Y's name) drove the entire trip without any interventions from me! I felt very comfortable at all times! A side note: 3 weeks after delivery we were on the freeway when a pickup truck came down the on ramp and swerved in front of me to get around the car in front of him on the ramp. Sparky suddenly moved left and slowed slightly then returned to the middle of our lane and returned to speed. This all happened so fast and all I remember is the tailgate of the truck no more then 5 ft in front of me. Later my wife said "We are keeping this car!" And that was while on version 11.0. We are definitely Tesla FSD fans!!

We have been using the Supervised FS-D for a week now and do find it awesome. We live in rural New Hampshire and do not do a lot of highway driving, so my wife and I were not quite sure how good it would be, but were quite pleased with how it handled the rads and traffic circles in our region. I liked how it adjusted speed for the conditions and tight curves, and found it did perform well on both the roads and downtown centers. We did run into a few issues though, one being that the cameras picked up the state route markings as speed limits, and out drive to Keene on route 10 often resulted in the car slowing to 10 mph. Fortunately I could push it up to the posted limit 0f 50 mph using the scroll wheel. I'm just glad we didn't take route 104 to Andover. The other problem was that when the speed limit did change from faster to slower, the vehicle took it's time reducing speed, sometime traveling 500-700 feet after the speed limit sign, before it even began de-accelerating. At one location, several years earlier I had been stopped and pulled over, receiving a friendly warning to slow down. At that time I was doing 40 mph in a 30 mph zone, and this week I was doing more like 45 in the same vicinity. I should also note that In New Hampshire (and this may be true for other states) the state posts a warning sign prior to a reduced speed limit zone, thus the officer said there really is no excuse to be exceeding the speed limit when you reach the sign. All in all, a nice job and I hope the comments are taken as constructive suggestions. It is also a reason for us drivers to stay engaged while using this feature.

Thanks for the opportunity to try Self Drive. Amazing what it can do ... However, I find it stressful, a lot like when my teenage children were learning to drive. They were driving, but I had to pay special attention because I did not know if they would do something unexpected. It was more stressful riding with them as they learned than if I drove myself. Now years later, they are adults and I am comfortable riding with them as they drive. Self drive is like this, It would take time for me to trust its decisions. Several concerns I encountered with Self Drive which currently limit my trust. 1) Two lanes turning left onto a highway entrance ramp. I was in outer lane, even though there were dotted lines marking the lanes through the turn, Tesla cut the turn across the lines (no car in the inner lane, so all was well, but in my opinion the Tesla should have waited until after the turn to merge to the inner lane). 2) left turn from through lane and did not use the left turn lane. Tesla may have been confused as there are barriers ahead for the through lanes due to the road is still under construction. However, Tesla should have used the left turn lane like everyone else. 3) yield sign at end of Highway exit ramp. Tesla came to a full stop, even though there were no other cars which the tesla had a clear view of well in advance.

Version 12 is an amazing update. But there are still issues: 1) takes off way too fast from full stop, then slows down for no reason 2) hugs the extreme right side of the road WAY too much 3) hits all the big potholes, and is almost not usable in the city I live in that has lots of bad roads. But these complaints are minor. We’re living in a very exciting time where my car is driving itself, and will only keep improving. Highway driving with Enhanced Autopilot or Full Self Driving are very enjoyable and relaxing. Also the new self parking for vision Teslas is GREAT! I use it all the time to park and parallel park.

I used my free trial a long time ago, and it was fascinating. It took me back to my youth when I tried to build a similar system for ordinary cars using smart sensors and metallic reflectors on highways. Every time I used it, I remembered my university days when I struggled to convince my professors that this could be done-this was back in 1993. Also, when I was 13, I attempted to build my own electric car using car batteries and alternators. Long story short, every time I drive my Tesla, I feel like I’m 13 again. For me, driving a Tesla is truly a dream come true. However, the bottom line is that my Tesla was quite expensive, but I felt I had to buy one. I ended up purchasing a used Model 3 while trying to get a Model Y. My used Model 3, which had 2 years and 25K miles on it, cost me $47K. Also, I watched the full self-driving price, going from $8K to $12K to $15K, and now it's back to $8K. Ultimately, it comes down to economics; it's too costly. My car is now worth much less than $15K, and paying $8K for it is not economically reasonable, especially when most other electric cars offer full self-driving features without supervision for free. I might consider switching from Tesla to another electric car in the near future. For now, I'll keep enjoying one of my dreams while working on my next electric car budget :) and hopefully, I will enjoy both my dreams all at once again.

Why "Full Self Driving" (supervised) - It (FSD AI) controls the steering wheel, accelerator, and brake. It (FSD AI) fully controls the car. It (FSD AI) fully decides the path for the car and fully controls the car on that path. The purpose of the driver is to supervise or manage (it could be called "managed self driving" ) the system. The driver is the captain of the car while the AI is the navigator and pilot. When FSD is enabled, you (the driver) are promoted to captain.

That usually happens if you get caught a few times looking at the display for more than a few seconds; and V12 is *much* more sensitive to this, to the extent that I've gotten two strikes for this in a couple of months, while I got no strikes for it during three years on earlier versions.

One lane change was a bit more abrupt but no close calls. But I do wish as another vehicle got closer to me in the lane next to me, it would adjust my speed more proactively so I wouldn’t be driving in parallel with a car that was veering slightly out of their lane. Unfortunately, there’s nothing new to learn. I wish we could click on the screen and indicate the parking spot we prefer, rather than being limited to the one the system offers. I’ve been using FSD for two years, and what I dislike is that the car starts to brake using the physical brakes instead of calculating and trying to use engine braking as much as possible to save more energy and recharge battery. Where is the ‘saving mode,’ guys? I drive much smoother because I can predict the road situation and traffic condition. Why is my car still accelerating when I see that it should already be in recharge mode and preparing to slow down? Chill mode doesn’t help.

The new cars without ultrasonics let you pick a spot. That will be rolled out to ultrasonic cars later.

This is pretty amazing. The only issue is no one drives the speed limit in Phoenix Arizona, so you are definitely impeding traffic other than that it works wonderfully.

you can increase speed with right scroll wheel.
@vtonyvicente1028 ай бұрын
@vegajf51 you can only increase the speed to a certain maximum, and you can rest assured someone will be on your ass ready to speed by whatever that maximum is. But I do find that it has a good idea of when to move to the center lane when jerks tailgate you. It'll recommit to the fast lane once the coast is clear
@StevenJohnson7378 ай бұрын
@@vegajf51this was the case for previous FSD versions but not version 12. Previously the vehicle would always accelerate to the set max unless it was prohibited by traffic in front. In V12 max acts as a limit but doesn’t mean it’s the desired speed. I’ve noticed I can set 52 as a max in a 45 and sometimes it will just do 48 consistently. I believe this speed is based off of the vids it’s trained on in neural net or possibly surrounding traffic but increasing the max doesn’t necessarily increase the cars speed.

I found it useful that I can manually change lanes while in FSD by pressing and holding the stalk. Sometimes there’s a situation where I want to stay away from a passing lane or don’t want to get in a toll lane, and the trick is helpful. Other than that, I have been using FSD for most of my driving since v12.3. I’m already used to Tesla driving for me, and it’s way better and consistent than how I drive. Tesla will change the world soon like iPhone and ChatGPT moments.

Pro tip: You don’t have to hold the stalk, just press it all the way up (and let go) if turning right or press it all the way down (and let go) to signal left.😎

1:41 Interesting that the instructions only refer to the experience which is currently available on hardware 4. My Model Y with ultrasonic sensors hasn’t yet been upgraded to this new version of auto park with spot selection and the ability to pull forward first to better line itself up, which seems to be the high fidelity version of auto park which vision only cars have. I’m so ready for them to bypass use of my ultrasonic sensors for this new version of auto park. It doesn’t mean they have to disable them when I’m parking manually but reallyI I only care to have them functioning when I’m parking myself anyway so I’m not sure what the hold up is.

Once it turns it just takes off fast than one wud as u turn. On reaching destination it stopped at the next house over., so needs more tuning.

I have been trying it for the past few days and WOW! It is really impressive in some cases and really goofy in others. Within 30 seconds of me using for the first time it slowed down for a speed bump and even slowed for s group of bunnies that ran across my apartment parking lot. Right turns on red are a little slow but it gets it smooth sometimes. Left (unprotected) turns are the slowest and i often have to take over to get through a street before next year but when it does go it is safe and feels like it punches the juice pedal! Ill be stopped at a red light and once it turns green i feel like im in launch mode it nearly floors it whether a plaid in next to me or not haha

Sunglasses work for the dumb nods to stop you from looking ANYWHERE else. Still trying to find a hack for the hands on the wheel nods which are pretty frustrating, not because they're there but because how frequent they are.
@BigBen6218 ай бұрын
You have to rest your hands somewhere when you drive; just rest a hand on the inside of the wheel, palm down, on either side near one of the spokes, and the weight of your hand and arm will cancel the nags. Or move one of the scroll wheels up or down one notch when you get the reminder.

I was using FSD and the route it picked on the way home took me on a round about. I was a little nervous to let it do it's thing but I did and it handled it perfectly. When I got home the screen said I did something wrong and I only have 4 chances left until it takes the privilege to use it away from me. I don't know what I did along the route as I didn't get any reprimands that I noticed during the trip. I have had to take over in FSD before because it has acted irradict and choppy driving. Once it braked hard when I passed a car waiting to turn in front of me into a housing complex even though the car was stopped waiting it's turn. The car behind me had to slam on their brakes so I hit the gas. I felt bad for the people behind me, I'm sure they were upset at me. I just got my first electric car/Tesla model Y performance a couple of weeks ago. I had full self driving as a perk because my friend referred me. I have used self driving quite a few times now. I feel like people are so enamored with Tesla they act like it's perfect however I feel like it still has a long way to go on self driving. My second day of having my Tesla(not on FSD), I got rim rash on my back passenger side rim. I filled the hatch back with groceries, hit the button to close the hatchback as I returned my cart. Pulled out of the parking lot and took a right turn out of the parking lot and as I took another right turn onto an access road to get out of the shopping center a big warning came up on the screen that my hatch back was open which then distracted me as I looked in the rear mirror to see if my groceries were falling out and got rim rash on the curb. I pulled over and went to the back hatchback, It was closed and I applied pressure on it and heard a click as if it locked. Then looked over at the rim that hit the curb and it was chewed up. I was so upset! The computer distracted me with the huge warning on the screen which made me hit the curb. I wonder why it didn't warn me the hatchback was not locked as I was pulling out of the parking space instead of when I had driven rather far and was in the middle of actively taking my second right turn? Second thing is I don't like how the rims stick out further than the tires. I've noticed there is still a lot of room for improvement.That being said, Tesla has done an amazing job and I feel If it weren't for Elon and his team we would never have had access this quickly to such amazing technology. 👏
