On the fiber gaskets like the one that put up a fight, I tend to spray on WD40 and let it sit a little before trying to remove. They seem to soak it up pretty easily, and usually are easier to remove. Doesn't always work, if it's really bad. Sometimes, your only option is dig it off - soft small wire wheels for a rotary tool usually do very well and shredding them off lol

Hello, I wonder if that gasket even needed to be removed and replaced. I thought it looked good but I wasn't there. Man that was on there!! Nice score on the lot. I have had some equipment that was faded like that. I have used a torch to bring the color back. That one I would probably use Restore by 3M and then use the torch. Some disassembly is required to use a torch.

That gasket was in decent shape still, but if I have the kit with new gaskets I usually like to replace them all regardless of the previous gasket condition. I did play around with a torch on this one.. I was marginally successful in some areas, but the most faded parts just started to singe brownish (likely user error) so I stopped lol. I have not thought of using the 3M restore, so I may try that. Thanks for the suggestion!

@BackyardRepairs I can appreciate that with the gasket. I felt your pain, tho. Once you start, you have no choice at that point. When you cut the video, I thought to myself, "ATF Soak time." On the 3M Restore, it lasts longer than silicone spray alone, and yes, silicone spray is another way. That's what used car dealers use to make under the hood plastic look new. Is this your first channel? Your doing a great job.
