That's what passes for a "spectacular" dock in New York. The Hamptons are the second-most overrated place on earth, right after Brooklyn. -jcr

I agree, NSResponder! Standards there are SO low! Architecture, interiors, and landscaping are vastly better in the South's top enclaves. But then, you have to deal with stupid, Football-crazy Southerners - and the kids end up on drugs, because they don't have any friends with passably-high IQs. New Yorkers, at least, tend to be smart and savvy, and so not-out-of-control - well - except for the 'Boardy Barn' crowd. Summering with New York kids, had an improving effect on our kids. And now, the grandchildren are coming along. So, it's a toss-up: inferior houses and crude-but-smart neighbors, or beautiful houses and stupid trivial Southern neighbors? We honestly don't know which path to take. New York beaches are so much COOLER than South Carolina beaches, though...

PerthTowne I grew up in sag harbor and my family is not mega rich. There are many regular people houses and neighborhoods throughout the Hamptons. We make a lot of our money off of the super rich so, it lets us live pretty decent.

Did Bryan Young actually say, "eXcape"? Oh, well... At least I know know what to say, if I ever am in someone's mobile home. The trendy new models have "cathedral ceilings". So now, I can qvell over the chic transition between the low spaces and the high spaces of someone's doublewide, describing how the sloped ceilings "negotiate the geometry of the exterior". The TV commercials for mobile homes, by the way, are now showing ALL-NEUTRALS interiors - just like the "neutralized-for-resale" re-dos of every house we've seen in the Hamptons. Oyyyyyyyy......
