I was on that United flight. Never thought I'd actually see the landing attempt, but someone this morning said they saw it on BBC so I searched it and found this video. Apparently we got struck by lightning too, as the pilot informed us after we landed in Edinburgh! Thanks for filming this!

I was sat on BA0776 at T3 from 13:00-15:30 when all that hail and rain hit, we were two and half hours late for take off but safety first. She was a tasty take off too, hit by cross wind 3/4 the way down the runway and a wild bumpy assent and turn… These pilots are just fantastic 🙌

One of their circle patterns coming into Heathrow, as well as quite a few planes coming into Gatwick, is right above my house at the moment, so among all the wind I can hear, I just hear loads of plane engines which is odd for my location

You say the winds are gusting so therefore some planes will land a lot easier than others, is that not so I wouldn't think it's the pilot, just asking !!!!!!?

Seriously why would the BA pilot at the start be in the sim after that landing, perfectly safe and within parameters otherwise they wouldn't have landed and gone around, they are professionals and follow the checklists. And as for the potential wheel well fire warning for the A333, total tosh.

Yes definitely, they would do a short announcement when they were established in a safe climb and complying with ATC instructions or following the missed approach procedure
