Horses are wonderful animals. They are very intuitive and they pick up on everything. Even though horses are prey animals by nature some of them can be trained to successfully tune into helping people. They are awesome creatures. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I have experienced mental and verbal abuse and to this day I won't tolerate it from anyone again. The scars are there, but God helped me to get through it all.

I have to disagree with people that know nothing of the power of the heart of the horse and what they are in relationship with the one they have picked to comfort or give therapeutic attention to. I was in a deadly accident and was brought back three times from passing over which involved the “equis ” spirit and willing ness of my desire to pursue my want in raising and loving horses. I did have six horses following a tremendously difficult recovery and it involved Hippo-therapy, which is a wonderful form of horse therapy that helped me walk, talk, and communicate, feel more confident and even hopeful. My life would never be the same had I not done what I was ment to do even with my physical challenges. And I will never forget all the horses, the people that facilitated their work and became close to me in the process. I love my horses, and all the wonderful and many things they did for my spirit, and ❤️.

1:40 - as a passionate equestrian struggling with several mental health problems, I think this is an overstatement. Yes, horses can help in a way. But they aren't a magical cure either. Sadly, the reality is not as easy as that. 7:58 - In my opinion, this is a quite dangerous exercise, sorry. There is a reason behind why every beginner is told NOT to do that EVER. A horse can't see what's going on straight behind it. Even the most well trained, calmest horse can spook for whatever reason. Putting your hands on his butt provides safety in two ways, 1. The horse can at least feel that someone is there. 2. You can feel possible tension in his muscles in order to get out of the way before he actually kicks. There are so many things you can do to build courage, like what they did at 8:56 Nice facility though!

Cruella de Vil This is me Lauri Walker. Mel would have never put me in danger and I knew that. She knows her horses. For me I would not have gotten through those early days without the help of the horses and Mel. So yes it was a magical cure I actually could have used more sessions. but victims only get 10
