Owned a dozen boots over time and my first time experience owning the Full Tilt 120 has been superior to anything I’ve used. The ease of putting on and removal is huge since my foot scrapes hard against the plastic on overlapping style boots. What has been a surprise for me is these boots have a better, stiffer flex and overall performance than any custom racing boot I’ve owned. I’m sold. Hope K2 keeps the legend alive.

Great video! New subsciber. I've been skiing in Raichles and Full Tilts since the early 80s. I loved the rear-entry Raichles since I have narrow feet and it was the first boot that I was able to actually pull my heel into the rear of the boot and keep it there. Those boots lasted until the late 90s when I got my first Raichle Flexcomps with a fitted Intuition liner in 1999. BTW, good bootfitters are worth their weight in gold! I got new liners and footbeds, but after 16 years, the Flexcomps finally died in a fresh powder day at Crystal in 2015 where the heel ripped off my right boot during a turn at the top of Green Valley Bowl, causing the ski to float down to the bottom of the bowl. After riding my other ski to the bottom, I got to climb the 500' up to the gondola station and ride down to the shop to find another pair of boots. Fortunately, a pair of Seth Morrison Pros were on sale, and the head of the shop was an experienced bootfitter. After getting a few tweaks to the shell and liners, they have been the best boot I've owned yet, although after almost 200 days, I may go for new liners next season. Maybe I should check and buy the liners this season. I love the fact that they are lightweight, warm and easy to put on and take off...that's important for us old guys...approaching the 80 year mark next month.

I got a wide feet, about 102mm last. The Descendant 120 really fit my wide feet. And I realized there’s a shock absorber inside the boots, it really helps reduce impact when I do some cliff drops. Way much better than normal boots. I can’t feel too much difference when I do some carving. Great ski boots for it’s price.

@@johnhall1705 No… it’s all good for me. Do you mean the very front one? Maybe you can try tighter the higher&middle buckles, cause you might put too much pressure to the front one because you didn’t tight other two buckles. That’s just my thoughts :)
@johnhall1705

@@xu4799 yes the very front one, its more of the placement of the buckle because its so big any soft snow catches on it. It likes to get popped up while walking in the snow and it hits stuff like stairs or door ways when I walk inside. Ive used them for 4 days every week this season for on average 8 hours a day. I wanted to try to flip them so they look more like the B&E front buckle but I need a washer and nut. But I cannot find info on full tilts web site if they sell the washers or if the come with new latches. . - thanks for your input

I just came back from the Alps having used these for 6 days. Perfect for park as well as carving down slopes (I am relatively lightweight so flex was not an issue at high speed). I have to add extra emphasis on the ease putting them on and taking them off. My go-to boot before I turn 65 one yellow Rossignol course. Definitely responsive and my foot like a glove. But when I decided I spent more effort putting them on and taking them off then I did actually skiing on the hill. I switch to Full Tilt and have not regretted it. I have modified them a little bit by adding an insole and also adding some extra padding to make the he'll pocket tighter and actually snugged up the forfeit a little better

I originally bought a pair of Raichle Flexon Comp in the late 80s and skied on them for about 15 years, did a lot of hard mogul skiing. I loved them and never even thought about getting any other type of boot. It was unfortunate that Raichle stopped making these boots but I kept using this boot until there was too much duct tape trying to hold the liner together. I finally gave up on the Raichle boot and bought a 4 buckle boot, never liked it no matter how I tried to fit it. A couple years ago, I bought the FT Classic. It was great, fitted just like my old Raichle boot, made me feel like my younger days. I have been skiing for over 50 years, this will probably be my last ski boot.

They will probably will be just renamed and change some colors, they are probably doing this because if you realize the name K2 has more recognition in the world of winter activities as a whole, on the other hand Full Tilt is mostly known for people already involve in the world of skiing, is more of an specific market, so they are just doing this to sell more, to make it more heard of to people that are starting to get into the sport, so they can directly go to a brand really known, and also it is less expensive to advertise one brand rather than two. That is what I think.

I've had my FT Drop Kick model (first gen, i think) for about 4 years. Pros: Comfortable, warm, and fairly easy to put on and take off. Light weight without sacrificing performance. Reasonable price point. Used to wear food beds, but don't need them with this boot as the fit is a level up. Cons: The adjustment slider built into the buckle piece is very tough to get right especially in gloves and when hands are cold. Tip: The ladder-style closure adjustment is a whole lot easier to modify at perhaps the expense of some precision. The wire-style closure mechanism can be unwieldy to clamp down across all three buckles as they seem to always get in each other's way. When the shell is very cold the plastic hardens to the point where the advantage of on/off ease is all but gone. While I chose the Drop Kick model out of convenience and availability back when, in hindsight other models probably would have better suited my skiing style and general needs. That said, once the boots are on and dialed in it is exhilarating to put them through their paces with little thought required about the great results that occur.

The mold for the "classic" shell is actually the same mold as the raichle flexons that people used to win world cup ski races on but full tilt doesn't make them as stiff as they really need to be to be a performance boot because all of their marketing is to young park/freestlye riders and people who want easy on/off boots. full tilt actually made custom parts for bodie miller to build his own performance boots using a classic shell with a custom spoiler and tongue but they wont offer them to the public because they don't think there is a market for it. I had some full tilts based on the "soul" shell which is a classic just with less plastic in common discomfort areas and stuff and they were complete noodles with no support and no response and they would fold all the time when I was carving hard, I would give full tilts a go again because if they offered them in a true performance boot like a lange rs or a mach 1 or a atomic redster but thats just not in the cards for full tilts (now k2) marketing

Well, in regards to your current shin bang, your boots can either be too stiff, or too big. If you cannot flex/ move the boot, it's going to be like slamming your shin against a wall. You want next to no movement in the boot as well. In theory, Full Tilt boots can help alleviate shin bang due to their 3-piece design allowing your ankle and leg to move more naturally. You do need to make sure they fit, and are the correct stiffness for you though.

There should have been some forward lean adjusters/ shims in the box that you put between the bottom shell and upper cuff. The gap is above the FT logo on the back of the boot. If those don't provide enough forward lean for you, I'd suggest getting a hold of FT, and see if they can send you larger shims. Hope this helps.

@@MountainVibes thanks! Will this also help with bend when my shins go forward, because when I lean forward it seems like there’s not much give or flex to prevent shin bang.

I’ve been trying to get these damn shims in and I can’t. Do you know how? Or do you know of any tutorial? I haven’t found anything helpful online.

You need to undo one side of the cuff to open it up more. In regards to you flexing the boot, it seems they’re too stiff for you. I would highly suggest going to a FT dealer to help you out.

Salomon/ Atomic make a soft one, and Nordica make a few starting at 100 for men, and 75 for women.

Agree with everything you said. One thing you didn’t mention is performance, which isn’t as good as a four buckle overlap. Yes, less shin bang if you are slamming front of boot, but they just don’t ski as well.

K2 kept the entire engineering and design teams from FT. They felt it had been pigeonholed into a park boot and felt it should be worn by more users. They couldn’t get anyone over 25 to look at them.

i respectfully disagree with almost everything you said. all my experiences with full tilts are bad. tried to hang in there for years, because they looked cool, but it really didnt work for me. how a boot fits, and what you need from a boot is very personal. for me, atomic and tecnica 4 buckle boots have been perfect for me, woukdnt have changed a thing. lange is aslo pretty good for my feet. but will agree that its sad to see k2 remove the full tilt name, and they do look cool.

Gosh. Do people really buy boots off the shelf, going by reviews or random recommendations on the internet?? Kidding, I know they do, but they shouldn't. Full Tilts are great, and so are many other boots, but only if they fit your foot. A close fit in the right flex is the only reasonable criterion, and most people only get a really close fit from a real boot fitter.

@@RedemptioINN i would agree with graham, most people i know with full tilts just want a soft boot, and dont really care about the support an aggresive skier needs. i used to ride park myself, and had full tilts for 2 yrs. wanted something soft that looked good. parkskiing doesnt really require a boot that handles angressive skiing, since park isnt aggressive. they tend to favour soft and upright boots, which is the opposite of agressive boots. not taking a shot at park skiing, still ride the park sometimes, and loves it, but its different skiing, and doesnt require as much from the boots.

Wrong. I am a skier since 1962, an aggressive all mountain skier, ex-racer, and a ski instructor for 35 years and have worn the top shelf race boots since the 1970’s. In 2010 I bought a pair of Full Tilt Konflics and have NEVER had a better fitting, better all round preforming boot. The ability to put on and take off this style of boot is light years beyond the 4 buckle style, the Intuition liner is warm and no shin bang ever. This year with my winter off from work and a lot of skiing on my planner I am going through my gear looking critically at my 12 year old boots. They have some wear, nothing that prevents them from 100% functional use, I like all the new boot technology and the internet temps me for new/different boots and of course my total ski outfit would look better in the lift line and lodge with something “modern”……but, I am not “modern”, I am sad to say retro, I also am one of the better/aggressive skiers on the mountain on any given day who happens to love my Full Tilts and would buy the K2 Revolver Team as my new modern boots.
@thelass98

@@faceinthecrowd5810 Well the most important thing is That the boots fit you, and I you like them, that’s great. Really did not work for me though . Had some full tilt b&e 2013 with an 8 flex tongue on. Never got comfortable in them. The fact that they came without insoles made custom insole fit bad, instep was to high, buckles kept braking, heel pocket expanded over time and got too wide, and same with the top of the chin. And they never offered any LV/narrow models. The boot felt a bit flimsy too on ice. The flex felt to soft and not progressive enough for my liking, and it felt soft from side to side on ice. I walked a lot in them too, and the intuition liners got holes in them from walking after like 2 seasons. Also an ex ski instructor with racing background from my youth, although probably less experienced than you by the sound of it. I ski mostly backcountry now, but some occasional park and racing still. Tecnica and atomic have worked way better for me. But end of the day, boots are very personal, and for me it just didn’t work at all. I would never go from a 4 buckle design again ever though, I get such a precise yet comfortable fit in them. Could be because of the low volume options too.
