Everybody needs to find their own state of equilibrium. The younger you are when you figure this out, then the more happy years are in front of you. First do what's in your heart, and then second what's in your head. You are truly gifted when they are both the same.

You truly are lucky to be on the road. I hope for your anxiety to ease. I never followed my 'wild" dreams. I was wife, mom, in the workplace, grandma, & now..at 71, took off by myself & car camped for 3 nites. Yep...it was magical. Just 4 hrs away from home.. cold nites...but I did it. When Spring comes, I'm on another short trip. I love your life. You rock Chantelle. xxoo

Chantelle I could not agree more with everything you said at the end of the video. Now that my sons are done (or almost done) high school I am trying to instill in them the same mindset. I am not pressuring them to hurry up, start college, start working...all that stuff. I want them to take their time, find out who they are and what they love to do. I always tell them if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and I truly believe that. My 18 year old son (that will be with me in Quartzsite, so maybe you will meet him) suffers from severe anxiety and depression so the last thing I want to do for him is make him feel stressed about having to join the "rat race" as you call it.

I was in Scaddin Wash last year the end of Feb and some of Jan. I went to meet Bob and Suanne. I had my Nissan Altima and decked out with a house battery, solar panels, every camping thing you could imagine, and lots of blankets 😂. I knew after those two weeks I wanted to be a nomad. I met the nicest people ever and have a lifetime friend. She's there now. I want to be there so bad but am in Alabama living off grid and saving for a van. I started a YT channel so you'll have to stop by and see my "little basic journey" haha

I wash I could be there. My dad and I were going to go because we wanted to go to the RTR. He was my travel buddy. We went out every summer all summer and some times in the winter days. We did this for 8 years together. He would come up from Fl and we would be anyone where I picked. So he passed two months ago and I just couldn't come down without him. I go full time this coming summer. He we going to go with me then too. I"m just not sure how I'm going to be able to go now. I will. But it is going to be very hard.

I don't usually follow van lifers because that's not the build I'm planning, but I do follow a couple of you because of the nice vibes. I was just looking at a few of the van lifers in Quartzite right now and I gotta say, they seem very dramatic, nosy and gossipy, not the kind of people I want to camp with. How easy is it to get totally isolated out there? And dang, that dinner looks amazing! 😍 And yeah, some social programming is really hard to overcome. The whole idea that work is tied to our worth, and the more productive you are, the better a person you are. The problem is that productivity in this society is only tied to what wealth you are creating for someone else, not what you are doing for yourself or the world at large.

I went from working full-time in medicine (which was super crazy even pre-pandemic!) to getting really sick & not being able to work except a few hours/week in my 30's. It wasn't until now, in my 40's, that I learned more about myself and life in general. Although I've considered myself religious & spiritual my whole life, it was meditation and being quiet that TRULY got me to the peace I feel now. You can't hear your heart when your mind is caught up with noise of the 'rat race. ' Totally agree with what you said! You should feel proud & blessed for being able to realize that because sadly it seems some people never do...🤗💙 Hi Joey! 🐶

I can live vicariously through those who do travel. I’m glad that I clicked on your channel and I can’t wait to get to know more about your dog and your life. There’s something about your calm nature, the way you talk, and I love the background music you choose, that slow, jazzy, relaxing music. Quartzite is a wonderful place to pick up gemstones! Beautiful mountains. I only know this from the other van Lifer I follow. She would travel there in the winter as well, and go on these beautiful hikes on these colorful, red looking mountains, And she also went to the nomad festivals like burning Man, and Skooliepalooza😍 Anyways, I’m a new follower. And if you see a bunch of thumbs up, it’ll be me binge watching 😃

One has a drive thru where you can see the Burrowing Owls peeking out of their burrows - so sweet , and the other is a bird and game sighting area. Also cross over to Blythe and take Hwy. 78 south to Algodones Sand Dunes ( some Star Wars scenes were filmed there) , and boondock. Joey would be fun to watch in the dunes. Then on to El Centro where the Blue Angels practice in February. Heading east towards Yuma is a nice boondocking spot at a natural hot springs , and towards Yuma is a plethora of interesting boondocking spots.

Anxiety is part of life but it's not necessarily a bad thing because it makes us stop and think. We're very lucky, we retired almost 20 years ago from high stress jobs and we live and travel comfortably but we still have anxiety, self inflicted but we have it. It keeps us from being sloths. If you ever do discover a way to stop feeling it, let us all know!!

I toy with the idea of moving to one of the other areas instead of continuing to stay at the LTVA though I’ve already paid the fee. Too many people here in La Posa South and the traffic and dust are off the hook. Add to that people allowing their dogs to run around off leash, the generators, and the occasional loud music in the evening hours, Scaddon Wash is looking like paradise. I should have saved the money and stayed at one of the non fee areas. But it’s still the desert and I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. This nomadic life has truly bought the peace I’ve sought my entire life.
