As someone who got laughed at for saying "cholla" when I first moved to Tucson, it's actually pronounced as "choya". Keep up the great content!! We just started full timing a week ago and enjoy watching the other people in our age group!

@@wildrvlife My husband grew up in Yuma and around age 14, he fell into a bunch of cholla - yep INTO, Off a cliff about 20 feet. Broke bones in both hands and had thos extremely painful cholla quills all over his backside. Call them whatever you want, they are the worst to cross paths with!

They are called jumping cactus because their roots are very close to the surface and as you walk by it can cause the cactus to bend towards the person or animal walking by. The spines can also have a slight hook on the end making it more painful and difficult to remove.

I spent my teenage years in the Mojave Desert. Was riding a dirt bike and went over the handlebars and landed back first on top on a cholla cactus. Oh that was so painful lol. Loved the vid you guys.

The Wave was a short hike but a bit difficult. Those mountains with the snow are Idyllwild and Big Bear. Big Bear is very commercialized, but Idylwild is cute and fun.

You guys are terrible actors. LOL LOL Love the channel, it's the personalities that make it GREAT! Mount Rainer from the visitors center to the base camp and back, nothing like hiking in snow. Hiking poles really help on the down to take the pressure off your knees. Enjoy the road and smooth travels.

Longest hike was a 7 mile (round trip) to the Tin Mines in El Paso Texas. Hardest was Mammoth Rock… also in El Paso. You end up about 2 miles up in the sky the switchbacks get yah but at the end you can see quite a bit!

I think the Dr Seuss trees is a good explanation, actually! We did joshua tree last year way too late in the season. Man it was hot! I don't know if yall did saguaro NP when yall were on the way to Cabo or not but I said it looked very similar, just trees vs cactus. Bethany (me) is terrified of heights so no rock climbing for us! But we kove all the hikes & kayaking adventures!

Its Cholla Like "Show"la, but Chowla. Like the word Show. The jumping cactus are no joke either I've gotten it a few times as a kid. They are brutal to get out ofr your skin, they are barbed, my dad used plyers to get them out and there are smaller pieces around them to get them out, it takes days! i grew up near there so Joshua Tree is normal to me!

can you clear something up for me? So when you are looking for a specific spot to climb, is there already ropes an stuff hooked to the rocks? if so how do you trust it and who puts the first rope up? I honestly have no idea? TIA :)
@wildrvlife
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
The only thing that is already in the rocks are the bolts. You bring your own rope and carabiners, etc. the bolts are usually set by professionals, but we also always check to make sure they aren’t loose or damaged. If you are interested, REI actually has some really good how to videos on “lead climbing”, which is what Craig does to set the rope up at the top initially. And then we take it all back with us when we are done of course!

You should be eating tons of fruit in-between meals. You also should add more food. You need fat and carbs in moderation. If you feel tired you are not getting enough carbs. You should be cutting back slowly and slowly increasing your activity. Losing weight is a slow process if you want it to stay off. That’s a mama’s advice :). Love you two. Reminds me of being young 😊
