Roundabout rules: Turning left: signal left on approach Going ahead: no signal on approach, then signal left as you pass the first exit Turning right: Signal right on approach then signal left as you pass the third exit (note: doesn't apply when it has 3 or more lanes) (also don't rely on signals as they may be misleading)

passed my test first time on Wednesday with 6 minors. with 40-50 hours of lessons with no private practice. My tips : exaggerate it when you look at the mirrors don’t overthink it, you will feel at ease as soon as you’re out the test centre. 40 mins will FLY BY. I’d recommend having 2 hour lessons prior to your test. Don’t forget to breathe! Think wisely about having someone in the back of the car with you! Wish you all the best x

What do you mean "exaggerate it"?
@ShamAwais6 жыл бұрын
GeneralBoo make it obvious you’re looking at the mirrors, move your head and not just your eyes. In my lessons my instructor drilled it into me to make it obvious. I’ve had mates failed because of mirrors and not making it obvious. Of course in real life driving just moving your eyes is enough but on the test you gotta move your whole head. It will just ensure you don’t fail or get minors because of lack of mirror checks.

Hi Guys, I had my divring test 2 days ago, and I PASS!! On the 2nd time, so I just wanted to give a little message of encouragement. Keep your observation spot on no matter what- keep calm - breath in an out and project yourself that you will pas no matter what situation you will be in! After failing my first test - I felt very discourage but I kept going, now I feel that I wasn't ready when I failed... as I was extremely nervous. So you can do it, breath! Now that Im driving I keep 2 things in mind, observation and go slow. Also the video here were very helpful to my journey !!! Thank you Chris!!!

25:36 I fail to see what on earth he was supposed to do to avoid that fault? There was a gap, but it was before he saw the vehicle. Then,when he saw it, there were no gaps to pull into it. Like...you can't win in these scenarios.
@Ravage0174 жыл бұрын
I guess he couldve waited before the gap on the right side so the other car could pull in
@MrDiddymandarlo4 жыл бұрын
@@Ravage017 Just seen that. Yea he could have done. I'm wondering if he reversed to then get behind that gap so the car would pull in, would he have got the fault. Like I live in a street more narrow than that one, it's a pain. The only alternatives are if you're lucky to have a gap to pull into, otherwise you have to reverse a 100 yards. Nobody's fault, that's just the way it is.

I passed my test first time yesterday!! Thanks to my instructor and also to your channel! All the videos have helped me so much. Some tips for those wanting to do their test soon: -have a good nights rest -be super observant and don’t rush things -the 40 mins go by super fast if you normally have 2 hour driving lessons -talk to the examiner, they’re still people and they are just there to see if you’re a safe driver or not and it also helps you feel at ease

Few tips I'd say is 1) make sure you are prepared. Take the lessons necessary. If you try short cut you may fail. If you are making too many mistakes in lessons that's an indication to your level 2) be confident. This impresses examiner as they know they cam rely on you to make decisions 3) correct any mistakes. Making faults is normal. Every driver even us instructors make it. But the difference is we correct it straight away. For example if you forget to indicate. Realise and indicate asap. 4)mirrors mirrors mirrors. Examiners look at you to make sure you check 5) plan ahead. Means you can react safely to the situation Theres a few tips guys

Thanks for the video, it has shown me how much easier it is driving outside of west London where I am based. This route looks easy, no large spiral roundabouts, no impatient abusive drivers to put him off (had 3 today in my lesson alone), no duel carriageways, quiet roads for the most parts with barely any traffic, no people running in front of him, few zebra crossings and he was given the easiest manoeuvre to do. It's no wonder the average pass rate in london is 33%

Really nice driving, the only thing that really bothered me was that he never went over third gear. He must have been on a lot of 30mph roads, and using third gear with high revs (throughout the whole drive) should be constant driving faults in my opinion.

Up to 40mph is completely fine in 3rd gear
@DerKaktusAvant5 жыл бұрын
@@GazzaDontCare ot depends what engine you have and what car you have. Don't think about what speed you should change gears, but how many revs you need, for example if you going up a hill on a 1.2 petrol now way you are going to at 1500 revs but you need more power. Or if you are going down a hill you can change gear to a higher one than usual unless you want to control your speed then I would change to a lower gear to avoid using the brakes, this will not use more fuel most cars will shut off the fuel so don't worry about that. My first car was a 1.9 tdi(diesel) Audi a3, not a particularly heavy car and due to it being a diesel it had a lot of torque. I could idle up a hill in that. I don't know why instructors teach you what speeds the change gear because it really doesn't make you a good driver. You should understand your car and how it works, it really does help.

JOVE SKRASKA 4th gear should have been used for loads of it! You shouldn’t be driving mate. You must go through a lot of petrol!

@@jmyps8801 Unless they went more than 30mph, 4th would be pointless. I haven't watched yet, but correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't watched the full video.

TheLondonCyclist I’ve driven for 18 years. I know that more than 3rd should have been used. The revs must have been high pretty much most the time.

@@jmyps8801 would it depend on the car? 1.2 1.9 etc?

Will you get a minor fault for not using your handbrake? Because I only use it on hill starts, otherwise I just use the footbrake.

Hello, thank you so much for the videos. May I ask within what speed range should gear 3 & 4 be used? Will the test not cover dual carriage way where the speed limit is 70 mph?
@worlddriving6 жыл бұрын
Hi! It depends where you're taking your driving test. If there's a dual carriage nearby then you could be taken on it. When to use 4th gear varies but normally over 30-35mph 🙂

@@worlddriving Thank you very much for your reply. My current driving instructor tells me to drive in gear 2 up to 30 mph. I have only driven on gear 3 & 4 when on dual carriage or 40 or 60 mph roads.

Get a new instructor ASAP omg, a dual carriageway you should be on 5th (or whatever your highest gear is). And driving in 2nd at 20mph is pushing it a bit let alone 30mph wow

When setting off, he doesn’t check over his left shoulder as someone could be crossing the road behind you or approaching the side of your car where your blind spot is. Tbh my driving instructor would fail him on that as safety is first.

The_ 2kbeast lots of instructors don’t teach that so it depends on the person
