@ thank you! There is a pass through underneath the desk that is more like a crawl through space, but the works for emergencies! And our dog uses it all the time. Near the end of the video I have a little section that talks about it!

Omg this is, like previously mentioned, so well thought out! I'm 50 and so shocked at how many women self build out these amazing homes in wheels. I'm so envious, I was late to watching KZbin, I first started watching in 2019. That's when i discovered there was such a thing as van life. The money is still a small issue but my biggest issue tensions I'd still need 3 seat belted seats for the next 5 years at least. It would probably be hard to find a van like that already built out and still in my price range. Oh and a design I'd still be in love with once I didn't require the 3 seat belts. I'd only even be able to go out at most a few times a year anyways until that time frame is up. So it will remain a dream until then. I just admire you so much for the design, the capability, all the things. It's beautiful!

@emandnick indeed! I'm still surprised they're not much more common and popular. I also don't want external gray and black water tanks for several reasons and I like having as little plumbing as possible. I live in my van by myself, and I'm a man, but I can understand Laveo toilets being less common with females mainly because (many people don't like talking about this) going #1 is easier and has more options for a man than a woman. It might gross some people out, but I use a little plastic container that's commonly used in hospitals to go #1 the overwhelming majority of the time. Unfortunately, that isn't as easy and convenient for women as it is for men.

This is a beautiful, well thought out design! The only thing I was thinking is that you have to climb out of the van if you are in a dangerous situation, and get back in to drive away - but you have that covered with the hiden safety door already! Perfect. 👏👌

You did an amazing job building this home! And your mom did an amazing job with the dinning table and the cushions! I would absolutely choose the Ford Transit over the other choices I've seen as it is the tallest of them and the ease of repairs! Ford! Not some designer look at me wanna-be! I have seen some Sprinter vans that look fabulous but for $200,000 and then having to look for places to fix whatever needs fixing... just no thank you! The bug netting is a wonderful much needed addition! Awesome build!

Finally! a bar style glass washer. Convenience and water saving. What did you use for insulation? Diesel storage under the bed. Any odors? Absolutely love the attention to detail and storage designs. Bed question: How much of a hassle is it to convert and make the bed every night? Inverter for Starlink: Could you get a small 12 v plug in inverter designated just for the Starlink? All great questions!!! For insulation, I used havelock wool in the walls and ceilings (moisture resistant and natural) and 1 inch foam board under the floors. I only notice a diesel smell right after topping off the canister if we accidentally spill any! For the Starlink, there is definitely a way to hard wire it into your 12v system, starmount actually offers a kit for it! We just found that it didn’t make that much of a difference power wise, and we wanted to make sure if we ever wanted to remove it and put it into another build we could. For the bed set up, if we’re feeling lazy we just leave it in bed mode! But having it convertible atleast gives us the option to have a dinette or second work space. It kinda just becomes part of our daily routine during the work week, one of us makes coffee and walks Marley and the other makes the dinette in the morning! The propane lasts us wayyyy longer than you would think actually, we go about 4-6 months on a single tank!! And it’s not bad to change out, it’s pretty accessible. Clever build, and I had forgotten that the Transits even came in a diesel option. Could you give me an idea of what the distance is from the back door of the van to the end of your bed (i.e. to the edge of your kitchen counters)?

@@thevagabondonwheels4918 it’s a great engine! These diesels go forever. The bed is the width of a queen, so I would say around 60ish inches from the doors to the counters! The bed has bump outs on either side so it’s built to sleep width wise, or atleast that’s what I planned it for myself (I’m 5’10)!

LOVE your build and layout!! After 2 years what would you change if you were building now? Also I builder and having my. An built by a professional builder. I am torn as I love to cook and love gas, yet it's 1 more thing to full up so electric oven and maybe a portable 2 or 5 lbs gas and carry a single induction just in case? How are you finding the LP situation? My battery will be huge so no problem there. Also do you have a second alternator? Last do you use the Laveo daily, if so how cumbersome is the cartridges? Cost per "go" ? I am either going with incinerating toilet or I have a sealing per "go" option. Now there are 2 that seal each "go" so no 15 twists to toss. I agree on composting as they don't actually compost!! Looking so forward to your reply and your opinions and advice!! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing build and I love your cushions kudos to your mom!!!

Great questions!!! For me, I knew I wanted to have an oven so the gas made sense. We really don’t have to change out our propane much at all! Usually one tank lasts us 4-6 months cooking every day (we don’t use it to heat our water so it lasts longer). My best advice would be to try and picture your daily routine in the van and try and build in a way that makes it as easy as possible for you to do that routine! Any additional set up can start to wear on you a bit overtime. It is REALLY nice to have the propane so we don’t have to use electricity to cook, especially when we were in Colorado for snowboard season and weren’t getting as much solar. If I could go back, I would maybe try and do an on demand propane water heater instead of our electric one, it takes SO much energy and we very rarely actually heat up our water because of that. We don’t have a secondary alternator, it would be super cool if we did though because honestly the DC to DC is how we get most of our power!!! Upgrading to the 12/12 50 was a total game changer. Highly recommend beefing up your DC to DC power! If you have the budget and power and space to do an incinerator toilet I would totally do that. We like our Laveo because we don’t have to deal with compost, but we really only use it as a last resort because it is EXPENSIVE per flush- like $1.50 per poo LOL and they are not great for liquids. I wish there was a toilet on the market that combined the twist/seal for #2 and a separate tank for #1. I hope that helps!! Let us know if you have any other questions! ​@emandnick There are 2 toilets ypu could go with. 1 is the Wrappon which cuts & heat seals a small bag into a package that is sustainable and is allowed in all states to discard in the regular trash. The bag is not a twist it is specially made and a bio plastic. Appx 65cents per "GO". A new toilet which is coming to the US looks more pleasing and it does the same with heat sealing each GO. Into a small package to toss away. You can toss a few sealed packs at a time or however you want. They are 12volts on both options. Living full time should be able to use your toilet. Laveo has had issues with having 15 times in 1 twist series and they can leak as well as build up air that can hit all at once yuck!! Lol!! If emergency only I still would not want that which sits in the twisted material for longer. Yuck!! Lol!! One and done is better IMOIfIf I were not doing incinerating I would go with the single heat sealed. Cleaner and done when done. I have hydronic heating so no need for any other way to heat and hot water as the system has that. I do have a big battery bank and I am thinking of a solar sail. Thank you so much for the info.
