Full VATSIM VFR Flight - Cessna 172 - KBWI to KBWI | VFR Just Fly | Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Today we do a full VFR flight around Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay, departing and arriving into BWI airport with a Departure controller and Center controller. If you're looking to start flying on VATSIM this hopefully will give you an idea of what to expect on a pretty typical VFR flight. I am by no means perfect nor an expert, but it is a fun way to fly and adds alot of immersion.

After Takeoff, you should gain as much height as possible. You fly fast but you are really low. If emergency happen you won't have time to turn back to the airport or pick place to land.

Yep... Also just for educational sake, the rotate speed (Vr) on a 172s is 55 KIAS. Best angle (Vx) is at 62 KIAS, and best rate of climb (Vy) is at 74 KIAS. Adjust your pitch on take off to match these speeds for best performance.

I always thought it was slightly embarrassing and weird to talk to ATC. But then I got married and had kids and now it’s actually embarrassing talking like this to a monitor. Wife thinks I’m crazy I’m pretty sure

If only the DC Tri-metro Bravo (or better yet the SFRA/DC FRZ) was this peaceful IRL. Still IMO better than the crayola box that is the Fl panhandle region🤔

VFR flight following is offered purely at the discretion of ATC, workload permitting. ATC can offer vectoring to VFR aircraft to their destination for weather and increased traffic avoidance / separation. It is similar to flying by instruments in the sense that you are maintaining an altitude and heading prescribed by ATC, however as a VFR pilot you may not solely navigate based off of these instruments, even with flight following.
