I've had this mop (when it came with every single accessory and both head types, including the carpet glider), since 2011...and amazingly it's still going strong in 2022 (although it was definitely pricey when purchased). I use it on laminate, never having been an issue, and I still actually have my original mop pads (they came in purple originally) and wash up really well as long as you don't use any fabric softener...those older ones I now use on my concrete balcony about once per week, leaving it super clean. For those who are concerned about laminate, I highly recommend using it only on the first setting (the second one maybe briefly if it's a really soiled area) and to be continuously moving, never allowing it to sit in one area. Also the distilled water does make a big difference, it keeps the machine clean and much less of a chance of any mild streaking residue. (I recently had new laminate put in, in a new condo and even the professionals back this product up, as long as your laminate is sealed...which most are today.) I was looking to gift this to a friend and it's still available from Amazon Canada for $99 although with the very basics, the glider and triangle head can still be special ordered direct from Shark. It's an excellent machine!!

Amazing🌼 We have worn oak hardwood floors and I was worried they would absorb too much moisture, but that doesn’t happen at all! The steam cleans and dries within seconds! I was amazed (and disgusted) at how much dirt came off the floors!! Over the years I’ve tried various mops, swiffer products, brooms, vacuums, but the floors never seemed very clean, and with the finish worn off a bit, the floors absorbed so much liquid, that made cleaning difficult. With the steam mop, I don’t have that issue and I know my floors are clean.

Thanks for your comment. It helps me greatly to find out in your case how it helped you because I am in the same mess with my wooden floor that doesn't have smooth surface finish.

@@randeepnagi5830 Have you tried this steam mop on your wooden floor yet? I am afraid that my laminated wooden floor may get warped. But now I understand that it appears to be OK to use the Shark Steam Mop S3601 to mop hard wood floors as long as it does not drip water and produces steam only, and as long as we use DISTILLED WATER (nothing mixed in it, pure distilled water) in the reservoir. My Steam mop S3601 was not steaming and water was dripping over the heater unit inside the mop. It was completely clogged over 5 to 7 years of use. I have fixed it. Now it generates steam only. I have been using it after my repair for past few months every weekend on our tile floor. The steam quality is so good that it wets the tile surface with steam which dries up in a minute or so without any water accumulation on the floor. Therefore, I am thinking it should work on our laminated hard wood floor since water does not accumulate during at all during mopping.
@ReviewAsSeenOnTV12 жыл бұрын
Yes it does even though she does not list it as a "type of flooring" that you should use it on. Many people do not like to use steam mops on laminate floors do to warping. However as long as you are using a quality steam mop that produces enough steam to dry immediately there are no issues. Cheaper quality steamers may "puddle" the steam and that may/may not warp the laminate. I have personally used this mop on laminate and it works great. So it's basically a personal choice.

Shark Professional Steam Mop model S3601 is an excellent design. It works very well as long as you use DISTILLED WATER ONLY while filling the reservoir. The DISTILLED WATER must not be mixed with any other additives to taste water better. It must be pure DISTILLED WATER available in grocery stores, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS etc. You get 1 gal bottle in approx under $2.0. Any other water clogs the nozzle/check valve at the inlet to the heater inside the mop body in addition to the nozzle where the mop head is attached. After I fixed my Steam mop model S3601, I am using DISTILLED WATER only and it runs pretty good. I love it so much that moping does not feel like a chore. After fixing my mop which was thoroughly clogged, I mop my tile floors every weekend since FEB-2022. Prior to that we used it may be once a month but water was dripping instead of generating steam. Now it runs fantastic. I would recommend this S3601 model of Shark Professional Steam Mop only those who are willing to use DISTILLED WATER ONLY to fill the reservoir. Otherwise it is a very painful and frustrating experience because any other water clogs the mop.

The removal of calcium buildup shown in this video removes the buildup from the nozzle at the very end of the outlet tube of the heater. However, most of the time the inlet to the heater (which is inside the mop, only visible after dismantling the steam mop) is clogged due to build up. My unit is, model S3601, same as the one described in this video got clogged. I did not know that Distilled water was supposed to be used. I used the mop for approx 5 years with dripping water without any steam generation. After dismantling the mop, I found that the heater was completely rusted and I could not remove the nuts to open the heater. After I unclogged the inlet check valve to the heater (dismantling the steam mop - a long story), I started using distilled water (must not have anything added to it, pure distilled water, costs approx $1.20 to less than $2.0 a gallon available in Walmart, target, grocery stores, Walgreens, CVS) every time I operate it. I run the unit till it runs out of water. Accordingly I adjust the volume of distilled water I pour into the reservoir such that by the time I finish all my floors, the water in the reservoir almost finishes. After one tank/reservoir is finished, I pour another 1/3 tank full of the distilled water (no tap water, it thoroughly clogged the heater inlet and water started dripping due to creation of back pressure as a result of the clogged heater inlet, not the nozzle where you insert the paper clip). I have posted how to dismantle Shark Steam Mop and tips on how to deal with "no steam generation" issue. For details, you may search in KZbin for Dismantle Part-1 Shark Steam Mop. It had Part-2 also to view the complete dismantle and tips on how to avoid dismantling.

I just received my mop and when I put water in it and turn it on it pops the higher the speed the faster it pops I dont know if this is the water pump and is it suppose to do this
@sweetmemories44482 жыл бұрын
If the steam is generating without any water dripping, it is fine. Pops means do you hear some hissing sound like what you hear when you pour tap water on a hot skillet? If that type of sound, then the water from the reservoir is filling into the heater and when it reaches boiling point it touches the hot heater surface inside the hesater and makes that hissing sound. However, if water is dripping on the floor, then the unit is clogged and it is producing back pressure in the line inlet to the heater, then opening the blow off valve and spilling the cold reservoir water on the outer surface of the heater and making that sound - which is not a proper function.

@redpillyoass58943 жыл бұрын
Use a mixture of vinegar and water when cleaning and it should keep calcium deposits from developing. Plus your floors will be cleaner because these steam mops really don’t disinfect like they claim.

As long as there is no water dripping from the mop. It means only when the mop is generating steam. When water drips, it indicates that the inlet of the heater is clogged.

hi there, i lost the screw to attach the handle. It is out of stock on your website. Can I buy this in a hardware store or is it a special screw?
@sweetmemories44482 жыл бұрын
You should be able to get a bolt in hardware store. You should the take the mop to the store to get a bolt (machine screw, not wood screw) that will pass through the hole on the handle and the hole in the upper portion of the mop unit.

@sweetmemories44482 жыл бұрын
By saying "broken" do you mean no steam is coming out even when the pump runs and there is water in the reservoir? OR you see water dripping from the mop and no steam is coming out of the nozzle where the mop head is attached? If the water is dripping, the inlet to the heater inside the mop is most likely clogged. There are many videos in KZbin on how to deal with that. If your "broken" fits the first category, i.e., no water dripping, mop feels warm when the pump is running with water in the reservoir (Please fill DISTILLED Water only, nothing added to it) and no steam is coming out of the nozzle where the mop head fits, it may just a priming issue. That means, some air bubbles are trapped in the inlet tube to the pump (not the inlet tube to the heater) inside the mop unit (only visible when you open dismantle the mop). HOW TO PRIME THE PUMP without any dismantling: Fill the reservoir up to approx 3/4th full with DISTILLED WATER (not ordinary Tap water) available in grocery stores, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc. under $2.00 for a 1 gallon bottle. Run the steam mop in SCRUB mode for approx one to 1-1/2 minute. Then turn of the unit, open the cap of the reservoir. Blow air as you blow a trumpet by mouth by blocking any opening with your fingers so the air does not escape. The objective is to push the water inside the reservoir under pressure so that it will expel the air bubbles inside the inlet tube to the pump of the steam mop. After blowing one time, you may take another breath and blow again. Only while blowing the reservoir mouth needs to be air tight with your lips and fingers around the reservoir opening. After that put the cap back to close the reservoir. Then turn on the unit and run in "SCRUB" mode for approx 1 minute or 1-1/2 minutes. If you do not hear hissing sound, repeat the blowing of air into the reservoir making sure to block any escape of air (trumpet won't work, if air escapes, which you know). Take another breath and blow air one more time before putting the cap back on the reservoir. Then run the unit in SCRUB mode. Within approx 1 minute or less, you should be able to hear hissing sound. If you hear hissing sound, you are good to go - it will generate steam. For details on how to prime the pump, watch the comment section of my KZbin video by searching for Dismantling PART-1 Shark Steam Mop . Also watch my video on Dismantling PART-2 Shark Steam Mop. That video also describes how to avoid dismantling and fix the problem and generate steam. Remember to use DISTILLED WATER there after while filling the reservoir. Some other day, if the same thing happens, repeat the priming process described above. It happened to me on two different occasions. Thereafter it self primes and generates steam with that hissing sound. Let me know how it goes. WARNING - If you have vinegar or any other chemical sticking on the wall of the reservoir, wash it thoroughly before using your mouth to blow air into the reservoir.

Anyone can make a video and make it better than they actually are. It seems you need to return to the drawing board and make better products, and listen to what the people say who use the product and have all the problems, one want a good product where they get their moneys worth out of it....also stores like walmart and others do NOT stock all the accessories like the triangle mop head, so leaks stock all the stores who sell the product with the accessories...

No need to buy distilled water. All you need to do is periodic maintenance to remove build up of minerals from tap water. I use CLR cleaner found at any store that sells household cleaning supplies like a Walmart. You mix half a cup of water with half a cup of CLR and pour it in the tank. Let it sit turned off for a couple of hours and then turn it on. If that does not work, unplug unit, remove bottom and insert paper clip inside nozzle to loosen up build up. That should do it.

@sweetmemories44482 жыл бұрын
I felt the same thing after using it for 5 to 7 years. I fixed mine which was completely clogged and water was dripping from the mop. Mine got clogged because I was filling with ordinary tap water and leaving the leftover water inside the reservoir without emptying it after use. Still there is hope, if you have not thrown it away. If the pump just runs and nothing happens, i.e., no steam is coming out and no water is dripping on to the floor, and the heater works meaning the mop feels warm/hot when touched, then you are in luck. May be just priming the mop will allow the pump to push the water into the heater and steam will be generated. If no water is dripping when there is water in the reservoir and the pump is running, means the unit is not clogged. Just fill about 3/4th full of the reservoir with DISTILLED WATER (not spring water, not RO water, not filtered water, not Distilled water fortified with minerals; must be pure DISTILLED WATER available in Walmart, Grocery stores, Walgreens, CVS, Target etc. that costs about $1.10 or less or under $2.0 for a gallon.) Close the cap of the reservoir. run for a minute or two. Then turn of the unit and open the cap. Now blow air into the reservoir like we blow a trumpet with mouth covering any gap around the inlet to reservoir. The purpose is to push the water within the reservoir so that it can push the air bubbles trapped inside the inlet tube to the pump. Blow it again if needed (must not let any air escape while blowing. Remember a trumpet won't work if air escapes while blowing. Then close the cap. There is no need to keep the reservoir air tight after blowing air into the reservoir. Now close the cap on the reservoir, plug the unit to the electric outlet and turn on as usual, set to "SCRUB". If you do not hear hissing sound within a minute or so, repeat the blowing process one more time and turn on the unit and set to SCRUB. Wait for approx 60 seconds while the pump is running. Once you hear hissing sound, you are good to go. After running for a minute or two with steam generation, the pump will keep running without hissing sound. Don't lose heat, it is filling the heater with water to form steam. As soon as the water will reach boiling point within the heater, you will hear hissing sound again and steam will come out of the mop pad, which you will be able to see. I have posted videos in KZbin. You may search for "Dismantling PART-1 Shark Steam Mop. Then read my comments (the pinned comments) of that video. Let me know how it goes. My KZbin channel is: Sweet Memories. Here is the link: Dismantling PART-1, Learn Troubleshooting newer model Shark Professional Steam Mop S3601 kzbin.info/www/bejne/j56YkGR7mLKGjsk 2) Dismantling PART-2, Learn Troubleshooting newer model Shark Professional Steam Mop S3601. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKHIZn-bfLOrqac I have been using the mop after repair for last several months during every weekends. Only on two occasions I had to blow air into the reservoir. After that it primes by itself and no blowing air is needed. REMEMBER: 1) Must use DISTILLED WATER only in the reservoir. Any other water generates oxides and clogs the inlet of the heater. 2) Keep the reservoir empty after use. You may run the unit a bit longer to finish the water within the reservoir or empty the reservoir before storing to use it after few days. I use just right amount of water such that just by running a bit longer, the water in the reservoir finishes. When water is finished it will be indicated by the sound of the pump running without any hissing sound. 3) Please do not use any detergent or mix anything else to the distilled water within the reservoir. It will contaminate the water and oxides will start building up and clogging will begin, which will be much difficult to fix.
