I'm a farm boy with a high school education and when you mentioned an engineer trying to show how smart he was it made me smile. All my life I've said the more education the less common sense. I have a F350 dually and I think a Midwest farm boy could have improved on some of the engineering.

IDEA.......us the dump resistor for battery heating.............of course u will need the proper flat plate heater inside an insulated box as lipo4 does not do well charging below freezing just an idea for ya............enjoyed the vid and I thank you.
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
What about the summer? It could over heat the batteries. Freezing is not a big issue for us. We only have a few days the are below freezing each year. We may dip below freezing, but most winter day are above freezing during daylight. The greenhouse uses this to our advantage.

I'd sure like to have a couple of those solar tracker mounts. I'm surprised at how inexpensive they are. If they hold up without a lot of maintenance please make another video and show us.

Part 4 wind solar control set up Hi Tony I was on the verge of giving up setting the controller system until I came across your post,you explained it in my way of understanding perfectly,mine is set up purely for wild camping of grid , where there is sun (sometimes but plenty of wind good old uk 🇬🇧 England) I have got everything working the red charging light comes on when charging wind and solar and set all the parameters for a 12v set up I have I do however have a annoying error flashing down in the bottom right of the screen any ideas of what would be causing it ,I have checked all connections to insanity lol , Once again great helping guide video Tony 👍

I really enjoy watching your videos, you keep it real, and through in some humor great stuff!! Thanks for making this update video. Maybe after this setup has been up and running for a bit longer, you can let us know how much power the turbine is generating per week, or per month. I was thinking about getting a wind turbine, but from reading about them it sounds like they really do not generate to much power.
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
I don't look at the wind turbine as a continuous power source. At its absolute best, it can run about 3 100 watt bulbs while turning at maximum RPM. I think the wind turbine is helpful in keeping the batteries topped off on days that have less sun. Generally the days that have less sun have more wind. I don't think a wind turbine this size makes any sense for a standalone system. It compliments the solar system.

Fun video and informative. This will take some real thinking if I ever do something like this. My question is I don’t remember you getting the Baumalight ditch digger… I think you’re coming up with projects to justify acquiring new tractor toys lol. Happy new year to both of you and give Gizmodog a hug for me and Colleen.

I have thought about building a geothermal system. I think a closed-loop system would really work well in our area due to the not-so-cold weather. It would probably help cool in the summer.

Just a question does the strings section mean how many cells you have in the batteries? If so it should be set to 8 for the 8 cells in the 2 batteries?

I'm from the UK, I've watched the 4 parts of this video and it's very informative, just would like to know how the panels are connected to the wind and solar charge controller, is it in series or series parallel
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
The controller is rated at 51 volts open circuit voltage. It has a max input wattage of 800 watts. You will have to arrange your panels accordingly based on your panel specs. There are so many variables depending on the panel manufacturer. Mine are 2s x 3p
@Maxvolts443 Жыл бұрын
Thought so I use eco worthy 120w panels @ 24.5 voc

What kind of charging amps does this wind turbine produce? I cannot find any positive reviews of these smaller wind turbines from what I have Found so far they only produce an amp or 2 in high winds and are not worth it compared to solar.
@michaelchane25939 ай бұрын
Can one see the output voltage and amp if it is working very well
@TonysTractorAdventure9 ай бұрын
I can tell you that it is working as advertised. Check out the last greenhouse video and it ran a concrete mixer. A fan and a high pressure water pump for hours. The solar by itself almost kept up with it. I lost one tick out of five on the meter and it charged back to full shortly after we stopped using the system.
@michaelchane25939 ай бұрын
@@TonysTractorAdventure Thanks for getting back to me on your experience, i just want to be clear....How many watt windmill and voltage? so it charged the battery well
@TonysTractorAdventure9 ай бұрын
Solar is the key in our area. The windmill adds little along the way due to my location. It works as advertised, but it needs wind. It seems to work out. When it is cloudy and stormy, there is wind.
@Suisfonia2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the vid, was wondering how to install this. Question though, are you using a one inch diameter pipe for the wind turbine?
@TonysTractorAdventure2 ай бұрын
The pipe is a heavy duty thick walled 2 1/2" pipe.

Nice system except for the inverter. You would have far better off spending a few extra dollars and installing a low frequency, transformer based inverter instead of that short lived, low surge capacity high frequency, transformerless inverter. Low frequency inverters last far, far longer and they provide a much higher surge capacity.
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
It is a greenhouse. There will be little to no surges. It will mostly run fans in the summer.
