The Swedish king should give this gentleman a medal for his efforts to make Volvo cars look good again. Great interview! 👍🏼

So sorry to hear of the untimely death of Peter on June 29th 2023. He was very kind to do the interview, and a wonderful guy to chat with. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Link to the main Volvo S80 video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6madXiNjpdoqdk

Rip Peter Horbury....

This was a great interview. Peter was such an interesting man who made an immense contribution to car design. I would loved to have heard him talk about his contribution to the 480 or C30, two of the most unique designs of Volvo's recent history. I was very sad to hear of his passing.

Peter, rest in peace. Your contributions are respected and appreciated. Andy, this interview was excellent. Thank you.

It is amazing to hear from Peter directly on his view about Geely and Volvo’s relationship and so much detail on the Volvo car design history. Fantastic episode!!

This has to have been one of Horbury's last interviews; and it's great to see his trademark humor and modesty on display -- not to mention his articulate understanding of how car design actually works.

Have owned multple Volvos since the Ford era, and now into the Geely era. Always loved the design, the comfort and the sensibility - the best way to put it, I think. I grew up with a PV544 Sport, but only got into them as an adult, when Ford stepped in. Loved all the designs dearly. Great interview, with a very likable and smart gentleman 👍As always, BIG thank you for the great vidoes!

Thanks so much for doing these interviews with designers. Please keep doing more! Peter's point about it taking a foreigner to recognize the unique cultural aspects of a place is interesting. Peter's a Brit capturing the Swedish spirit. Bruno Sacco was an Italian capturing the German spirit of Mercedes. Frank Stephenson captured the British spirit of Mini.

Frank Stephenson is a most un-humble car designer fond of blowing his own trumpet and making up tales about spoilers on cars which never existed.

@@Jeffrey_M yea, I kind of threw him in there as a stretch. I'd still love to find out where the truth shakes out on that Escort spoiler thing.
@Jeffrey_M Жыл бұрын
@@WBizarre I would be fairly sceptical. A number of people who worked on the car have debunked it. Also, I would be doubtful of his level of input over the concept and design of the new Fiat 500. Anyway, I know I have digressed a bit...

You should make a video about the S60/V70. That's a interesting story also. Volvo had started the development of a smaller sedan. But suddenly it struck them that they must replace the old 850/V70 before they can present another sedan 😁

This interview made me ask one thing, the chinese dont like Lexus? The gentleman mentioned ABB. In the end Lexus has been in the luxury business longer than Volvo (1989 first Lexus) and its still about ABB when sometimes also their cars are better/more reliable.
@LittleCar Жыл бұрын
There's not a great deal of love between China & Lexus, so I would suspect Chinese prefer German luxury cars to Japanese.
