I knew Joan and Kenny from my airport job days..always lovely people. I’ve heard bad things about Kenny and I’m not saying it’s not true but from my personal experience I can only say he was a gentleman. He knew I was a fan and he actually took the time to ship me a bunch of tour merchandise. A jacket, a shirt, an autographed album to the airline. Didn’t ask for it. He didn’t have to do it. Yet he took the time to do it. Class act at least to me. Joan was always an awesome customer. She did have a bit of a an uppetty air on first glance, but when you spoke to her, she shocked you on how down to earth she is. Miss seeing them.

This happened to me in the 80ies or was it early 90ies? Alice Cooper was playing in my city and I didn't have a ticket, so I was out on the town drinking and suddenly these guys came in and I picked up on quickly that they weren't from my country. And we got to talking and drinking and they asked me if I was going to the Cooper gig and I said no I don't have a ticket. You do now they told me, and they said they would make sure to leave tickets for me and backstage passes at the gig next day. And I went there and yeah there were tickets and backstage passes. That was f-ing kind of these guys, and who were they who I got to know and get tickets and backstage passes from? Britney Fox. I still have the guitar pick they gave me. I play guitar too. Thanks again guys You rock. It was a great time.

One of the points of the video was she's being "contained" by Kenny. Had she had other management that allowed her the freedom to be her...she may have produced much more music and possibly be one of the greatest. Of course, we will never know cause she's being controlled by her management and not allowed to be herself. Though, I'm guessing it's been going on for so long she doesn't know who she is.

@@davidrice3337 Kenny's influence over Joan Jett is very well known, as is the thing about his wife and her, there was even a limo driver who came forward and talked about the two of them going at it in the back while Kenny sat right there as if nothing was going on. But that whole thing about him holding some kind of strange power over her and how her career has been dead because of him for years now is something that's not exactly a secret, this is probably at least the 4th or 5th time I've heard an interview with someone talking about that, and why she allows herself to be so manipulated by him is the big mystery, she has no problem bossing people around but as soon as he's in the room it's like some kind of voodoo power is put on her, they say she instantly turns into a different person, and you'd think after what Kim Fowley put her through she'd never let something like that happen to her but she does, and no one who has ever been around it can understand.

Not a lot of people realize the Cinderella and Britny Fox connection. Half of the original members of Britny Fox are founding members of Cinderella. Michael Kelly Smith and Tony Destra were forcibly fired by Cinderella's record label when they were recording Night Songs. Michael and Tony then went on to form Britny Fox. Tragically, Tony was killed in a car accident shortly before they were signed to record their first album.

I just checked Joan Jett's tour schedule and she is playing arenas and amphitheaters all summer. She may be the middle group of three with Alanis Morissette. But even a middle act in arenas is expected to draw a thousand people. And the amphitheaters are 20,000 capacity. Characterizing Joan Jett as a club act (400 capacity rooms) is really unfairly diminishing where she is in her career.. She is still much bigger. And, also, who in their 60s in rock n roll has had a hit? Nobody. Not even the Rolling Stones or Paul McCartney...

@@tArchStantont She is playing amphitheaters and arenas all summer and has not had a new radio hit in more than twenty five years. I think that she is a legacy act and in that light she is very successful. And by the way, many county fairs have thousands of people attend their concerts. Joan is the type of artist that is very much connected to the moment in which she arrived before the public. For her, that moment was in the hip and modern world of punk rock circa late 1970s. Imagine if The Beatles had never transformed from the exciting rock-n-roll band of the early 1960s into the psychedelic band of the late 1960s. That's what was The Dave Clark Five, for example. So by 1975 and later the DC5 had become a legacy act. That's what Joan Jett is today...

Sports ruined drums for me because in like, say soccer, as a right hander you use the left foot to travel/dribble the ball and the right foot for to power kick it across the field or in a goal. I had no idea of most of these things. I was her #1 fan starting in 1982 in high school but over the years moved on to other artist as my #1 artist. I had no idea she was such a great rhythm guitarist. I knew she was a good player but had no idea she could play as well as he describes. Amazing. From what he says it sounds like Kenny Laguna is more than a producer but is a "handler". Not everyone in entertainment has a handler but if he has been controlling her for 40 plus years like this then it appears she may be a mind controlled slave and was groomed and shaped to be who she has become. Just the mere fact that she was so obedient to not thinking she could go out and get pizza is a bad sign. Without having a handler she may have taken a different road in her career and personal life. By the way I have that cover album and I thought it was really good. Too bad it didn't do so well.

That's admittedly one of the jagged pills I have had to swallow in recent years. Is that not only being a kid from the 80s, but also having gone down the road of "Musician" myself, I have had to look back at bands I once idolized and with a scrutinous eye, admit that "Wow... these guys arent really talented." Dont get me wrong, I wont sit here and jerk myself off with thoughts of grandeur as though I would have been something back then, but doing it oneself, there are certain things you pick up on over the years and then listen to music more analytically. Like "What makes this song so good/like this/this part/etc?" Then break it down in a way to where it makes sense and you can possibly kind of use the ruins to build something new. Dont get me wrong, a lot of those songs were absolutely fun and catchy as all hell, I still blast them... but you can tell it didnt really take a lot of "Talent" to make them. However, it at least took a human brain, with feeling and emotion, unlike today.

I have no doubt that the stories are accurate. Kenny Laguna has really kneecapped her career, maybe because he was afraid of losing her if she really made it big again. He could have pushed her to record new music more often, or kept her from putting not-as-great tunes on an album, or pushed to tour more in opening slots to get her name out there for the next generation, but he did none of that. He justs wants to keep her under his thumb. Plays her keyboards, at 80. Grandpa's on stage with Joan Jett. How sad is that? (I'm guessing he shelved Cherie Currie's latest album for 10 years because of jealousy - It beats anything Joan's put out in forever.
