Apparently they recorded Al's stew line before ed's lines for that scene so there's a panel recording out there where vic describes going in to that recording session, playing the other audio as is normal as you're recording and suddenly hearing al scream "FUCK YEAH" instead of the written line

There are some of them that I legitimately forget aren't the used lines. Specifically, Hohenheim's "FUCK HIM UP!", I always feel like that's what's gonna come out of his mouth in that scene, it fits so well.

Anime Dubs pretty much always do recording with one person at a time because they have to match lip flaps, but the original Japanese cast and cartoons here in the west mostly do it as groups because the characters are animated to them. In the case of dubs, if the dubbing is completed for other characters they will also play the dub audio for the actor recording to help set what the performance for the dub scene will be.

This is true. I was surprised to find out on the extras of the Soul Eater DVDs that despite voicing the main characters Soul and Maka who are always together, their voice actors Laura Bailey and Micah Solusod had never even met before. They had only met for the first time in one of the watch-along episode extras well after finishing the series.

Plus, objectively, the first FMA is a pretty good show, even if I prefer the manga storyline. The wheels came off a bit at the end, and world-building wasn't its strong suit, but it was great at setting up emotional moments and delivering a dark tone to the story.

What I love about the original FMA is that it expanded some of the events. Like for example the coal mining town, they showed what happened there and FMAB just mentioned it. But overall tho FMAB is the better show (in my opinion at least).

Shounen Protagonist Yeah, the 2003 one definitely had a few things it did better, but overall the animation quality, plot, and characters felt better in brotherhood.

Well, Brotherhood biggest flaw is that it basically assumed everyone already watched the 2003 anime, and thus decided to rush through the plot at the start in order to get to the divergence point faster. As such, some strong emotional beats (Nina, Maes Hughes...) were a bit weakened compared to 2003, and we lost some minor things like Yoki's first introduction (though admittedly, the 'recap' he gave in Brotherhood was hilarious)

The BIG thing I liked more in FMA03 was the way the homunculus were made, human transmutation. Their mom being one, and izumis son too was so heart wrenching.
