I definitely admire this brutha's skill at his craft, but I more so applaud him for being a MAN with core values/ethics, and not being willing to compromise who he is just for added business! #Word↑ #Dare2BeDfrnt! Hymn

Leslie's mix of Pharell's "Happy" is THE definition of finesse... Hard to come by mixes that sound that clean. The compression of the vocal and the subtle reverb automation throughout is perfect too. Hoping Leslie gets his hands on some more big records soon. This guy is great.

The main thing that I loved about this video is that the PLAIN TRUTH AND TRANSPARENCY WAS MADE PLAIN. Leslie did a great job at being approachable while yet not scaring the students.

Wow, this was an inspiring & informative video. Full Sail picked the perfect person to do the interview/lecture. I actually watched the whole thing and found it to be great.

Didn't even realize Leslie mixed "Aston Martin Music" too until watching this!! Easily one of the best mixed rap vocals ever right there. The way Rick Ross comes in right in your face on the verses is perfection, not to mention how good the rest of the mix is... I'll go get all the sauces from McDonalds, Burger King, AND Wendy's just to know how he mixed one that song!

Yes! Aston Martin Music is my favorite hip hop song to date. An amazing production = amazing mix.

Responding to what you said about meeting people in Bars and Party's. Would anyone hire an engineer or producer in a Bar? Those connections should happen in the Studio! Your advice is good!

Leslie is a great Engineer and a cool dude! I had the privilege of working with Leslie, having him mix a few joints that I had produced. He was super nice and answered all questions I had! I also "stole" little techniques from him while he mixed (I was surprised that he mixed 99% In The Box!) Big Ups to Leslie. I was truly inspired by him and I use many techniques I learned from him, to this day!! (Oh yea... Leslie uses mostly the same plugins that many people have access to. It's the skills that he poses, more so than fancy plugins!!) Thanks homie!!

Good video. I would have liked it even more if they'd mic'd the students. Oh well. I liked what Mr. Brathwaite had to say.

i wonder if he ever listens to songs on the radio and hears mistakes or says to himself i would have done it this way or should have put an effect there. i critique music all day and can tell people where things happen. either way this guy is so down to earth and all about helping people that i wish i had of met him years ago.

My theory with engineering is "A song is never done, just released." Sometime over critiquing kills the song. Let the music do the talking.

@KMHrock8910 жыл бұрын
I see what you're saying. But as he said, tech is the last thing he wants to talk about. The music industry is mainly about social connections. But I'm so glad I watched this, learning that he doesn't go out a whole lot or he doesn't change who he is just to increase business. He lets his work do the talking. Plus, those students have been sitting there in classes for four years learning the tech. Do they know everything? No. That is what experience is all about. Oh, and what exactly would you ask questions about tech? Most likely superficial questions that Leslie would, once again, say that it was his opinion and someone else may say something completely different. That this condenser sounds the best for this purpose or this reverb is better than that reverb. It's all opinion. I hope I've helped some.

+Abraham Chapman Because beside knowledge social tasks are as much important. Chris Lord-Alge even said once: it is 90% People and 10% engineering. These engineers are all masters of their craft, so the next level is how to deal with all the egos in the art world :)
