15 strikes unanswered after the knockout give or take +\- 1 was insane. What’s even more crazy is if you look at those first few ground strikes, you can almost see the spirit of Herb Dean baseball sliding in for the stoppage around the 3rd/4th strike. The man was buffering and I guess it happens but that was one of the most horrible late stoppages I’ve ever seen.

@jarvismane67007 ай бұрын
@@cherb7071Doesn't matter how solid of a ref he was, allowing someone to take that many unanswered strikes can end up killing the person. I've seen plenty videos of people getting KOd and then continue to get hit until they start seizing up. There's never been a death in the octagon, at least the UFC octagon. That ref almost ruined that streak with his incompetency. And before you ask, no, I couldn't do any better. Because I'm not a ref who is supposed to have training and know his stuff.

Also, there is no “code” like in NHL where a guy down means stop throwing them. I find it really hard to understand why fighters don’t take some of the responsibility in these situations.
@paroblynnАй бұрын
The problem is this; let’s say you’re not a super star yet. You’re just the local dude who has been dusting folks at local shows and you finally get your break in the big show. Your contract is 15/15 because of your record and your manager (who you have to pay). You’re mollywhopping some guy who is responsible for his own safety too (tap, verbally submit), plus his team can toss in the towel and you have a referee who is supposed to intervene when the dude can’t defend himself. So there’s several layers of protection. What are you supposed to do, stop smacking the shit out of this guy, say “hey ref maybe do your job, hey guy getting your ass kicked, wake up and defend yourself, hey corner throw the towel in for your dude.” And then in some Off chance you’re wrong and you lost the fight. You potentially lost 50% of your purse plus a potential performance bonus. If I’m a fighter in the ufc, I’m not sure what I’d do. But it’s not hard to fathom that these dudes in the heat of the moment not stopping until stopped. Plus you have to feel “close” to getting it done when the ref is right there hovering and waiting.

Other than getting fired by Dana or whoever are there any repercussions for referees that make horrible decisions? What I mean is like are they banned for life from reffing fights. I don’t know if y’all remember, but I remember that one guy back in Tyson’s day or around there who was getting bullied because he was gay and the gay guy hit him so many times after he was unconscious he ended up killing the guy.

Neither Dana nor UFC can fire the ref. Its appointed to these fights by each states athletic comission so if you want something done about it you got to take it to the state the ref is in.
