Great video! My only concern on your comment about leaving the 150 Lb B&W Companion engaged while lifting the pin box is... That is a Lot of weight to be adding to something that is basically designed for compression loads. I would be very leery doing that on my rig. Not to mention the tension force applied to the jaws of the 5th wheel.

I lift my companion out of the bed when i park it and leave it hooked to the pin lol thought i was the only one. Im trying to get some bed rearend bounce out of my truck, i have airbags and coil springs on my 2500 and just every now and then on a bad texas bridge it can get pretty bouncy when its repetative. Trying to decide with a better rear spring or a better trailer hitch. Because the airbags are great they have taken the truck a long way from stock to handle the weight im throwing at it

That’s a great and very smart addition to your rig imo! As a 38 year retired OTR veteran trucker/owner operator I ‘highly’ recommend keeping that fifth wheel plate greased AT ALL TIMES! A ‘dried out’ fifth wheel will hang up on the underside kingpin plate and cause problems when turning, backing, and, even worse cause an accident…I’ve witnessed this myself unfortunately. I have no intention of EVER pulling another trailer in my life after pulling dry box, flatbed, drop decks, lowboys, double-drops, end dumps, and, chemical trailers for 38 years! … I recently got rid of a Class B rv and am about to embark on a 2024 GMC 4wd AT4 (Duramax diesel) with a NorthStar 850SC popup camper. Safe travels! Stay safe! ~Jim at TOTALLY RELAXED!~

This pin box came factory gd momentum. The hitch has no pitch and therefore my fiver was nose diving. I even dropped the bolts to the lowest position however. Still nose low. Ultimately went with a Gen Y and it's now level and I'm also able to jack it 90 degrees. But this is what worked for me.

Thanks for sharing! Those GenY's look awesome!

My Solitude came with this pinbox. It was the first thing I upgraded. I wish I knew you I could have saved you $800. I actually gave mine away. I found the chucking to be worse than my previous 2 pinboxes. I will say I have a ton of pin weight which could have been the cause.

my Montana came with a shock system that's inside the nose. no need for this. 😁

My Jayco EagleRLOK came with this pin box and I really like it. The black rubber piece that runs just inside the front lip dried out, cracked and fell off after two years, but that was most likely the result of the dry climate in Central Oregon. I called Morryde and they sent me one at no cost. I have no chucking at all. As far as the bumps, I think it’s impossible to eliminate that. We were recently driving south on the I5 in the area of Stockton and we thought our rig was going to snap off the truck. The roadway was so bad our bathroom medicine cabinet came open and slammed into our shower frame and broke. That’s what we get for driving in CA. I can just imagine what it would have been like without the Morryde pin box.

Yes! We still really like this pin box too and have nothing but good things to say about MORryde. Thank you for mentioning the 2 year timeframe on the front rubber piece. We will keep an eye on it and buy a replacement when the time comes. Thanks for watching!

the flexair trail air has been solid for me. no chucking, and a much smoother ride. while I have an extra air bladder just in case, I've been rocking the same one for 5 years now with no issues.

Im glad i saw this video, i was all in for the curt turning point until i saw that yiu had to disassemble the entire pin box to grease the bearings, and i hear reese sidewinder causing shifting on curves in the road. How do you like this pin box now as far as keeping vehicle from tracking away?

Hi Bob! Thus Sherri a friend to Patrick and Patty. Two great people. I bought your coffee. I signed up fir your videos. I love the review on the MoRyde Pin Box. Didn’t know they had Pin Boxes. I knew they had stairs and other things as well. This is great to know and that it works. Thank you for the great review. And video.

Hello Sherri! Welcome to our channel and thank you so much for your coffee purchase! Patrick and Patty are great people with hearts of gold. We are always honest about our product reviews and I cannot say enough good things about Morryde. This pin box is awesome. Thank you for watching and subscribing!

Did you check with the frame manufacture that it would not void the warranty with all that hitch weight suspending in mid air? Being attached in the truck is one thing, but letting it hang free is totally different and scarry to me.
@TC-nn7xk2 жыл бұрын
We did the same upgrade. Also did the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Axle. And I'll never tow a TT or 5er without shocks again! Well I will, but it will be to a shop to install shocks! Recommend you spray paint over those pin box bolts. My mechanic did that when he installed ours for corrosion protection.
@TravelsAbound2 жыл бұрын
We may check into adding the shocks. That sounds like a great idea! Thanks too for the tip on the pin box bolts.

Good information.. as we are getting real serious about moving into a 5th wheel we have also been looking at the pin boxes and hitches.. so this gives us a good bit of information. Thanks

We have had two fifth wheels with Morryde Pin Boxes. We ended up replacing them both early on with FlexAir Pin Boxes. The ride is MUCH better, I have not noticed any additional maintenance other than adding air once a season to the bag (which is easy). We have a Solitude 391DL fifth wheel.

Thanks for the info. If I ever upgrade to a 5th wheel, I’ll be certain to check MorRyde out.

Is yours a long or medium pin box?
@TravelsAbound Жыл бұрын
Ours is a direct replacement of the 1621 pinbox that came with our rig from the factory. It's not labeled as a long pinbox, so I'd say it's a medium pinbox. However, the new frames that rolled out in late '22 have the Rhino pinbox, which is shorter than ours.
