he doesn’t deserve any abuse but this is a little disingenuous. People can, and have many times, forgiven poor runs of form but it’s the man’s attitude and workrate that are causing an issue for fans. That said some peoples treatment of him is outrageous
@d.b.cooper1
@d.b.cooper1 Ай бұрын
His workrate isn't great but it also isn't uncommon amongst many wingers & often managers prefer their wingers don't waste their energy constantly running back, especially when you rely on a good counter like we do. Truth is people just specifically watch Rashford far more in any game & get outraged. If you focus on any 1 player more than usual you'll find plenty of issues. I'm not a fanboy but I simply find it hard to constantly go in on him when it feels like 1 big massive pile on whereby he gets most the critiscsm for the wider team dropping off this season. It's just never sat right with me, i say that as someone who for years has never liked Rashford's poor body language as it's always been apaprtent watching him live at OT.

@@d.b.cooper1 Many people are ruled by agendas though it’s the same with the current anti Bruno trend which is frankly insane. I want Rashford to do well and on his day i believe he’s one of the most devastating players in world football but i find it hard to accept and hard to believe that any manager would ask him to jog around pretending to press or to stand and watch as opposition wingers and full backs bomb past him into his channel over and over again. He’s far from alone with this thoug i think as a team we are perhaps the most inefficient pressing team in the e league maybe even the top 5 leagues, but for a local lad playing for his boyhood club the least I expect is effort and endeavour

Have you seen the criticism Wayne Rooney got? Rooney in his prime is 100x times the player Marcus Rashford. He has won the Champions League, five Premier League titles with the club. Greatest ever goal scorer of the club. But he was criticized too, at times harshly. Why? Because he was involved in off field activities that did the club dirty. He never came out and bashed the fans for that. So stop this bullshit about hating or criticizing.

Sorry Joe, but I strongly disagree. People do not randomly decide to heavily criticise a specific player just for fun. In my opinion, there are very clear reasons why supporters are particularly critical towards Rashford. The first one being the way he carries himself (or, as others say, his ‘body language’). He jogs around the pitch, plays lazy passes or tries to shoot from miles out. He gives off the impression he believes he’s Messi or Neymar. He’s a good player when in form, but his own perception of himself is completely off, and that tends to show. The second reason is salary: ok, I give it to him that it wasn’t his decision to give him 350k a week, but regardless of that, responsibilities come with being the highest paid player on the team. He his not worth that money, neither in terms of footballing abilities, nor in terms of the level of commitment he shows. Lastly, I believe last season did him no good. He scored 30 goals but many of his performances were poor, which was never addressed. Cheers anyway

Maguire received horrendous levels of personal abuse. The criticism of Rashford has been very mild and almost entirely focused on Rashfords clear unwillingness to put in any effort defensively. It's perfectly valid criticism and easily silenced by Rashford himself. He is a grown man, the main man in one of of the biggest clubs in the world, with a contract to match. How he acts sets the example for the team. If valid criticism is too much for him, if tracking back or pressing is too much for him when the team needs it then he needs to move on.

Marcus Rashford recently signed a contract accepting a salary of £300k+ a week. My question for Marcus would be does he honestly consider his effort (forget form entirely) on the field to be at an acceptable level for that salary? Form can come and go, and is for the most part acceptable and understandable. The bare minimum expected of a professional footballer is putting in the effort and covering miles... He isnt doing this! This is the one thing that, at any point he chooses, he can do something about. What has has actually happened is he hasnt bothered to do anything about this for an entire season. Its a disgrace whichever way you look at it, and he has invited this stellar level of criticism upon himself.

Sorry Joe, he needs to be sold. The club needs a change and Rashford probably does too. He almost 400 appearances -that’s more than Beckham, Evra or Schmeichel. That’s in line with Cantona & van Nistelrooy combined! Cole & Stam combined. Yorke, Berbatov & Lukaku combined! But still the narrative is who is putting their arm around Rashford, who is helping him, who is looking after him. We’ve got genuinely young inexperienced players like Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund & Kambwala. Or players who have moved to a new country in the last few years like Onana, Martinez, Varane, Casemiro, Antony. But the player who has played most for the club, one of the highest earners at the club (and in the league) needs the most attention. Yet he doesn’t like playing on the right or through the middle, doesn’t really close down defenders or track back and just wants to run into space on the counter or cut in from the left and shoot

Cute video and all but the reason why Rashford gets criticized is not due to his output or lack thereof, it’s about effort. I can promise you if he was running his socks off and giving it his all it would be a lot easier to have his back. However we’ve seen from his effort on the pitch + body language that the attitude just isn’t there and therefore he deserves criticism. Bruno on the other hand has not had an amazing season by his standards but no matter how bad is form is you can never question his commitment. That’s what we want to see from Rashford.

You know it’s funny watching the sheer bile that you guys spew whenever Antony gets a start, or whenever he has a shit game, and yet your darling boy Marcus has been offering up similarly poor performances for a season and a half now and yet, here you are, leaping to his defence. Bear in mind, this is a guy who has said he is happy to be written off, in fact he likes it. But rather than that reflecting a strong character, it instead shows a player who is unwilling to take any form of criticism from anyone. Criticism is not abuse Joe, that’s just silly. He caught flak after the City game because he scored a complete, no look fluke of a wonder goal and then sat down to rest for the entire remainder of the game, resorting to walking about like he was too good for this shit. You know this already though, you just want to paint anyone that dislikes Rashfords lack of effort as some sort of hate filled idiot, because that’s an easier stance for Paddock defend, regardless if it’s basically just gaslighting.

Can't have a forward that's injury prone, weak mentality when things are going wrong, out of form or having personal issues 70% of the time. So we have alot to gain by moving on, plus a transfer fee and £16M in wages annually. Just because we've a poor record with forwards and signings doesn't mean we marry ourself to whatever player shows a bit of spark, that's just continuing the mistake. Nolito, Jesus Navas, Bony, Dzeko, Sterling, Sane, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus, friggin Aguero, Palmer, Mahrez, Brahim Diaz, Jovetic, etc. How many forwards and Man City cycled through.
