I love the part you showed. This was probably a mother-in-law "house" for one of the house owners parents. The lift enabled the handicapped elderly person. The main house was down that open hallway. It may have been empty too. Notice the in law house had its own kitchen and living space. In America we often see these. It gave the elderly some privacy and their grown child's family the same.

That staircase is awesome! I think this is probably a guest house on the land of that other house hence why they're joined. Possibly lived in by a disabled or sick relative and maybe used as a party house after it was empty, that would explain why the Halloween stuff is there.

Leslie, another great job with you and William. Where is Jordy? We miss him a lot. A while back I commented that you should go to Vienna, when do you plan on doing that? When you go, don't just do a video on abandoned sites, do a video on architecture because you are so good at pointing out the details. You and William make a great team and I hope Jordy goes with you. Please let us know when you plan on going to Vienna Austria because you will go crazy with all of the architecture there. Learn about Maria Habsburg and help teach everyone about her because she's a very important individual when it comes to European architecture. She changed the whole course of it. I love you guys so much, and I wish I could explore with you! My family is actually from Belgium... And Italy, and France and Austria and Spain and Portugal... I'm kind of a European mutt. But my family from Belgium actually had strong political ties with the Royal Family. Our last name is de la Fontaine. We have quite an interesting history with the Belgians. I love your videos so much!

Pretty ironic that there was such a big downstairs with only 1 bedroom and a small room upstairs. Looks like it could have definitely been a guest house or maybe the people owned both houses. Strange...thanks for the tour guys!♡

Yes it looks like a guest house. I think they had a permanent guest living their like a family member who needed to live out the remainder of his/her days there seeing how there were handcap things there. I wonder....

Maybe that is like a guest house or something that they made for their kids. I can't imagine having the two buildings connected unless they were both owned by the same people. It's very artsy.

Such a unique place, I never understand why places look as if someone was there, and just got up and left and never returned. It is sad in some ways, but so interesting to me to see. My heart loves older homes, just love them, I like to think of the times before, like way before, and imagine people moving along as they were, what they might have worn, and how the house was decorated or place was. Thanks for sharing. xoxo

I'm wondering as well, because there was very little dust on most objects. Did someone check the backyard for buried bodies? Why would absolutely NO family be able to clam that home? Unless the owners died a suspicious death and no one REALLY knows they're dead.....

What a great home. It's always fascinating to see places like this when so much is left behind. You can still feel the owners presence and imagine what their lives were like. Hey Lesley, interesting place, it doesn't look as though it's been empty that long. A few terms to note: • Decorations - For Halloween, not artifacts. Artifacts are pieces from ancient civilizations. • Negatives - From which photographs are made. • Sofabed - Sofa with a mattress inside. Stay safe and be wise. 😇

Hi guys, the painting technique is known as Trompe l'oeil . It's a 3D, depth, way of painting, done by hand. French actually. Thanks, beautiful place, shame it's not being used. Were there cars "next door?" It may have been part of the villa and it too abandoned? The atrium was a connecting walkway. Must have been two families of same family sharing villa.or guest house.

I Love the way you did th this video! You really paid attention to detail and allowed the camera to go slowly so that everyone could see what you were pointing to and talking about. This is a custom home and very romantic at that! Can you imagine it at night with all the little lights twinkling all around to create such a beautiful soft atmosphere. Whoever owned it had to have been fairly well healed. I think it's possible that some of that Crystal such as the glasses and the decanter on the table could be Baccarat which is very valuable. If you can go back and look at it , it would be etched on the bottom of those pieces. Difficult to see but there nonetheless. Good job guys!

What I really love is that in your country, you are respectful to the abandoned property. I have been following another couple on facebook who are exploring abandoned properties in the USA and all the properties they explore have been ripped apart and looted by vandals. It's really sad. This home is so beautiful. It's very odd seeing it abandoned like this. Do you ever investigate to know what happened?

That place is beautiful. So colorful and peaceful looking. I'd love to know the backstory on it and if it's on the market for sale. It doesn't look as though it's been sitting very long or abandoned by the owners long. It may be a part of the house next door they rarely use or had as a in law suite or guest house. At any rate I would love to know more about this one. I could see there was a few other things you may have overlooked...it looked as though you got nervous when you realized the 2 homes were connected and wanted to leave quickly before being discovered by someone. Maybe the other house is empty too. Maybe you can find out and let us know. Great video though as usual.

Erin Bricker - Urban Historian it surely is, I love good examples of Trompe L'oeil ...and the addition of the 3 dimensional bowls held by the Caryatids really help make this one work effectively. Whoever painted it knew what they were doing. I would have that in my old Victorian in a split minute, little surprises like that a half the fun of watching urbex videos. Did you see the one by Broken Window Theory where they went into the same ceramics factory Bros. In Decay did earlier this year? Turns out it was the Meissen factory with all the molds intact and many cast but unfired pieces and unglazed. These boys covered it first when in Germany and it was staggering what is left just sitting there, even their molds for white art statuary pieces. Have a great weekend. 🖤🇨🇦

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the winding staircase looks to be influenced by Art Deco. It's main proponent was Victor Horta who designed the famous Tassel House in Belgium .Google Horta to view the staircase.

What I thought was different was a lot of the things in this home were American. The "American" refrigerator (what does a Belgium refrigerator look like compared to an American one?) But I think this place had somebody partying in it fairly recently because of the liquor in the bottle if it had visitors ten years ago the liquor would have evaporated by now since the bottle is 1/4 full. Even the drink on the table would be hard and crusty if from ten years ago.
