It always breaks my heart to see the beautiful antiques and family items that are left behind. It just goes to show you how true the statement “you can’t take it with you” is.

Yeah, it really hits you seeing all those antiques and personal treasures just left behind like that. It’s walking through someone’s life frozen in time. It makes you think about what really matters in the end- not the stuff we collect, but the memories we make and the people we share them with. Places like this are beautiful, but also a little sad... like they’re holding on to stories that no one’s around to tell anymore. At the end of the day, you can’t take it with you.

@ You are so right. I love your videos because of how you respect and appreciate everything, as well as take the time to look at the details and all the little things. What struck me was the lack of vandalism, if any, compared to some abandoned buildings. It seemed to be primarily natural decay. You know which video of yours I still think about? The one with the kitten crying. The lady had passed, I’m pretty sure had a son that had been in the military, but it was the kitten that got to me. 🙄 I’ll always prefer animals to people I guess. Unfortunately families do disappear. My son is the last of his father's side, if he doesn't have kids, that's it. Especially with well to do families who have fewer kids. Though I don't understand how this place received and lost historical status. A church organization may be interested in a lot of these artifacts. There are some painfully beautiful and valuable items here.

I'm near to speechless! There are not enough words for me to even try to explain the emotion this castle brings out in me personally. Exquisitely medieval? There is an abundance of beauty in this place. The wallpaper in the purple room (makes me want to say deeply lavender because the word purple isn't good enough) The iris wallpaper is stunning. Equally stunning is the blue wallpaper. I loved your intro that gives insight to this place and allows us to see the timeless essence of it. Indeed, the artifacts and the paintings in this place belong in a museum it just makes me cringe to see it rotting away. But still, it's in fabulous condition for the ages. You really had us on our seats edge walking along with you in this explore. And yes, I can't end this comment without mentioning the kill room. Yes, it seems barbaric certainly not my cup of tea but it's a room of statis for the times and the royals gathered to arrange these hunts and it was very dangerous they didn't always come out the winner many royals even Kings were killed during this political affair while hunting the animal often had the last say. It's part of history that tells us a lot about the statis of the individuals that lived here. I thoroughly enjoyed this explore and I welcome you back your viewers have missed you! Bravo' Bravo" for such a grand entrance.

It’s crazy how a place like this can pull so many emotions out of you, right? It’s like every room has its own story, and even in its decay, it still feels alive somehow. I totally get what you mean about the purple room. The iris wallpaper and the blue walls too... just incredible details that make you wonder what it must’ve looked like when it was full of life. And the kill room.. definitely not easy on the eyes, but it’s one of those parts of history that reminds you how different life used to be. Hunting back then wasn’t just about sport- it was about status, survival, and even politics, and sometimes the animals won. It’s intense, but it tells you a lot about the people who lived here. I’m with you on the artifacts and paintings- they really do belong in a museum. At the same time, there’s something about them being left here, like they’re still guarding the past in some strange way. I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. This place can be saved, I see so many channels where people are renovating these old castles/chateau's. They should sell it cheap with all the artifacts so someone can restore it back to it's originality. Then they could turn it into a museum, weddings and rent out rooms. The stuff is already there. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I would of loved to been on a explore like this, I probably would have spent a week in there just looking through every nook and cranny. Thank you this was awesome to see!

I totally get what you’re saying, and I completely agree- it would be amazing to see a place like this brought back to life and restored to its former glory. The truth is with places like this that are privately owned, it really comes down to the owner's financial situation and whether they truly understand the value of these fragile historic sites. Restoring something this massive and intricate isn’t just about passion... it takes an enormous amount of money, time, and resources, and not everyone is in a position to take that on. That’s why so many of these places end up abandoned or in a state of limbo, even though they have so much potential. It’s definitely a bittersweet feeling walking through it... knowing how incredible it could be, but also seeing how much work it would take to save it. That pottery may be a serious score of antiquity: An official record dated March 7, 1548, indicates Masserot Abaquesne, an enameller on pottery, received a payment for enameled pottery tiles. Tiles were manufactured at Sotteville-les-Rouen from 1542 to about 1550. Rouen potter Edme Poterat established a pottery in Rouen in 1647. Edne is credited with developing a soft-paste porcelain designed to mimic Chinese hard-paste porcelain. The white body was decorated with blue designs inspired by Chinese porcelain. Poterat also is credited with adapting the radiating festoon style decoration on furniture to ceramic forms. Moustiers faience blue white large Rouen Pottery - History Edme’s son Louis assumed management of the pottery in 1673. Because of limited production, the factory was not commercially successful. It ceased operations in 1696. The importance of Poterat’s ceramics is their influence on the forms, shapes, and designs of other contemporary and early 18th century French ceramic manufacturers. Nicolas Levasseur attempted to revive soft paste production in Rouen in 1743. He failed because of the poor quality of his wares. Over a dozen faience factories were established in Rouen in the 18th century. De Bare de la Croizille, Dionis, M. Guillibeaux, Levavasseur, Mahsra, L. Poterat, LeCoq de Villerary, Pavie, Picquet de la Houssiette are some of the firms. By 1791, there were 16 firms. Most produced pieces in an Oriental style, some copying Chinese famille rose and famille verte patterns and elements from Japanese Kakiemon. These factories also produced a wide variety of popular wares, many of which featured satiric genre scenes, and large statuary. By 1798, only ten factories remained.

After I got home from this trip, I dig some digging myself on some of the artifacts I filmed in this place and I think you're right! If the pottery in this place ties back to Rouen or Moustiers, it could be more than just decoration... it could be history frozen in time. Pieces like that, whether they’re those blue-and-white porcelain designs inspired by Chinese art or some of the more playful and decorative pieces from later factories, are rare finds today. I mean we’re talking about craftsmen like Abaquesne in the 1500s, making enameled tiles, and Poterat in the 1600s, experimenting with soft-paste porcelain to mimic imports from China. That’s some serious artistry and attention to detail. And now? It’s just sittin’ there untouched, gathering dust, waiting for someone to notice it again. Makes you wonder what kind of people owned it, what kind of lives they lived, and how something so valuable ended up abandoned. Whether it’s authentic faience, porcelain imitations, or just pieces inspired by that era, it’s worth a closer look. Finds like this don’t just happen... they tell stories. And if this place has taught us anything, it’s that the past doesn’t always stay buried.

1:04:30 I'm a reporter and I used to work in an office with printing equipment more than hundred years old. I would bet that someone living there was in the newspaper business. Because there was no easy way to save the printed information, newspapers would save stacks of editions and years exactly like this. They typewriters were to write on of course. It would be very interesting to find out if any of this can be verified, but it looks so familiar!!

This was one of your best videos and more detailed and interesting than the one BigBanks did of the same location - his video was still cool and interesting, but that video focused too much on the macabre heads of the hunted animals, when the place has so much contrast in the other rooms to the bizarre slaughter room and animal heads. You showed the context of the story of the history of the place with the dates of animals, the newspapers dates etc, providing more of an understanding of what was happening over a 100 years ago in that unique place. It is really interesting how you point out fine details of things and show us what you see with your camera, giving the viewer a real sense of the amazing place you are in. Love both you and BigBanks, but Jeremy you really provide a deep poetic, cinematic and intriguing element to the abandoned places.

The taxes in France on an abandoned property are 17% the 1st year and 34% the subsequent years. The reason why so many properties are left to decay. Possibly recoup the money from artifact sales after purchasing.

The china showed around the 15 min mark, which is called "Rouen" based on Rouen, France. A city where they made this type of china, to my knowledge the last of this porcelain china was made just before 1696. Pretty rare and expensive stuff

The hunting trophy room is so creepy but it wasn't like they could just jump in the car and motor down to the corner store in the 1800s. They lived lives completely different than we do today. Some of the china and glass pieces are worth a small fortune as are some of the furniture pieces. I would love to have that book on the Huguenot's as my ancestors were Huguenot's and we were able to trace that lineage back to 1500. What an amazing find, thank you for sharing with us.

Beautifúl! May I ask why when you see a window open you don't close it? It will help keep more elements out that will help destroy the house quicker. Like the window by the hat. One house we explored we closed windows to keep the rain out because it was destroying the floor and ceiling in the rooms below them. A trickle down effect

That’s a great question, and I totally get why it’s frustrating to see places like this so open to the elements. A lot of the windows in these old buildings are broken, with hardware that doesn’t work. Many were boarded up at some point, but over time, the boards either fell off or were removed. Unfortunately, without proper repairs or something like chicken wire, there’s no way to secure them properly... and as a visitor, I’m not legally allowed to make any changes. I completely agree that keeping the elements out would help slow the decay, but in the end it’s really up to the current owners to decide whether to preserve it or let time take its toll. Hi, not till you went into the room with collapsed ceiling did I realise I had seen that castle in a video before, without all that decay. One can not forget that bed once seen. This home is absolutely gorgeous and definitely tells its story in its own but I couldn't help but notice when you got to the taxidermy room that you kept seeing the slaughter room, but unfortunately that is a way of living back then that was their food source. They didn't have a choice and they made it a Show of trophies basically to show what they were capable of catching. The men used to do that in order to survive And provide for their families for their families. That's why you seen hunting boots in the women's room and the men's but nonetheless, a very stunning home indeed. Thank you for your exploration! Merry Christmas🎄and happy holidays 🎉 to you.

It’s fascinating how they turned it into a display of skill and status, but it also gives us a glimpse into how different their world was. I am SO glad you came up in my feed again!! I lost you for a while and all the sudden you popped up again! You are by far the best explorer I've seen yet! I love how you do a history of the place and you really research it you don't just guess. This was an awesome explore! Amazing castle!! The dead animal rooms were sickening though!!! It reminded me of the Texas chainsaw massacre. All in all I'd say, Great job Jeremy!!!

That was a GREAT exploration of the castle. I really enjoyed seeing everything. The taxidermy room was creepy and sad...even saving the heads of their loyal dogs. Hopefully they ate all that they killed. Crazy to see the kitchen way down in the basement. I wish someone will save the castle and artifacts.

At about 5 minutes in, what you called a jewelry box is actually a writing desk, or slope. The compartments are for ink wells and other writing supplies. Love this place. Sorry to see it decaying.
