Since it has the SSB option, I'm going to assume it's not a Class C amplifier. Would that be a correct assumption, and if so what is it s classification?

This is my amp, I'm Nomad. I believe it's class C when not in SSB and class B when in SSB.

@@theyodaman82 thanks for the info nomad. I was off the air for 25 years up until about 9 years ago. I was never interested in the technical aspects of our Hobby, but since the Advent of the internet that wasn't available back in the day, my interest in the technical aspects of our Hobby peaked. I am only interested, because finding answers to technical questions is not only so much easier, but more accurate than the hundreds of different answers one would get, about a particular aspect of the equipment we use, when asking on air. I did not know that an amplifier could be built with two different classes. The reason I don't like nor have ever owned a mobile X-Force, Dave made etc etc etc type amplifier, is that 90% of them are biased Class C unless you request a custom built AB biased Carl built, X-Force, Dave made come and all the other amplifier companies building these amplifiers. Another reason I never owned one, and am not really interested is that I don't have a mobile setup, and never plan on getting one. I enjoy hanging in the shack, kicking back, and doing some talking inside the house, as opposed to communicating over the airways, while I'm driving. It just never interested me. I also don't need come and never will need a smaller amp to drive a bigger one. I use whatever output is needed to drive my amps to where they are dead keying 125 pep to 500. For me 500 watts is sort of a benchmark, and as far as DX goes, if I hear them 95% of the time they hear me. Of course going from 500 watts to 2000 Watts would gain me another s unit on the other end, it's just not enough in order to go from the 500 pep to a 2K app. In all honesty, and I'm not exactly sure why, but probably just because of the equipment I own, and the reports I get using that equipment I would rather stick the tube amplifiers I use, which to my belief are usually biased Class A B. I find that class A B will sound fine no matter which mode I might be using. I use a Uniden Madison in line with my triple stage Phantom for my SSB station, and a sonar 2430, along with a Palomar 350Z. And I believe both those amplifiers to be biased Class A B. If that's not what they're biased as far as class goes, I am fairly positive they are not Class C amplifiers. We talked to Ramen I get very good reports no matter which mode I'm in, while using either of those two amplifiers. It's my understanding that class C isn't such a good choice for SSB. Although I could be wrong. Thanks nomad. 73
