I had a 1 minute chat with G3 test driver in Guangzhou back in 2017. I said it’s a cute model X baby copy and he told me they will not target Tesla but will always make cars that are filling the void either above or below Tesla models. I was questioning about the weak point of Chinese cars, the materials quality, and he said: “Our company is backed by deep pockets so we can afford to make a quality car. By 2021 we will have a high class factory and a couple of models. These are export quality cars, you will see”. He let me have a look around and I couldn’t find anything bad to say, except it was a bit too small car (trunk) for me. I might have seen P7 model in Shenzhen but it didn’t have any badges, maybe it was a copy :-0 Very slick looking, not a BYD.

That’s a decent looking Car, build quality don’t have a clue but if good that would sell in Europe like hot cakes. South Korea with Hyundai do well in the U.K. because they nailed the build quality and sales grew through world of mouth because they were solid, comfortable and good value. Obviously they are copying the Model 3 and improving on it. It might not have the self driving but it looks almost a cheaper model S. Tesla hasn’t the competition yet from BMW, Audi, Marc and even VW and this has just added a bit more when it arrives in Europe. If China comes over here with shoddy build quality or problem Cars that image will stick and they will suffer but if they come here and nail the price, quality and tech then it’s game on. It can only bring the prices down. Will we ever see a decent build (Audi level) quality from Tesla probably in time, right now Tesla paint finish alone puts me off. Maybe Tesla Berlin will change everything on the quality front. Poor fitting rear seats in the Model Y and they haven’t got a fix yet for is incredible. So focused on numbers they cars are coming out with so many problems and sorry Elon it has to stop. Tesla needs to forget about x amount of cars fired out and be able to say X amount but actually built right.
