With VAT & Duties + EU Cpmpliace Requirements woudl likely push the price up to around 15-18K Euro but lot likely over 20K. General Mistake could stamp these out under contract/partnership and even use "domestic" battery supplies IF they actually wanted to step up and deliver "affordable" EV's that woudl sell in big numbers.

Love to see it in a ute/ pick up! Thousands of Suzuki Stockman and Subaru Brumby utes were sold to farmers as they were small, easy to look after and were hard to get bogged. I had a Stockman as a work vehicle for years and it was brilliant. I so long for the return of the small, practical work vehicles but as an EV.
@stephsoltesz6731

This could evolve quickly if the interst is there. I see this is a great Intro, leading to a model with larger battery & AWD. Later a possible pickup/ute with a smaller open box (no read seat space) which could be a little longer. Lot of room to develop this model while applying the KISS principle and keeping the cost respectable.

Elliot, thanks for another lovely video. If I may though, perhaps I might offer something that is meant as constructive and positive. Please look up the definitions of the words 'electronic' and 'electrical'. You frequrently use electronic, when you mean electrical. A switch on a very basic car that operates the seat is electrical, it just connects a voltage to a motor. Similarly, a powered tailgate (another recent video of yours) operated by a button is the same, electrical. Electronic is only used when the subject matter involves computational ability, usually something silicon based. Maybe I might seerm pedantic, but your videos are subliminally educating your viewers and I believe you should strive to be accurate.

I like that they have brought the costs down by doing simple things like moving the window controls the centre to save the cost of materials and assembly to run cables to the doors. Strategies like that also reduce weight. Most cars today are bloated with pointless gizmos which add to cost, weight, unreliability and costs of repairs, often through obsolescence of parts. Making the seat more comfortable is just the case of reengineering it (erhmm copy a better one) and removing the electric parts. Deleting the power steering would bring back feel and probably improve the turning circle. There are no cheap mainstream cars any more and it is not the case of going back to basics but removing the ever increasing bloat.

In a car that size, a far better option would be a retractable rear shelf cover and the seats either completely removable or else folded down by default, and then lift the seats for occasional use. If I owned a Yep, the rear seats would hardly ever be used. I might even remove them, to give even more boot space and reduce unnecessary weight..

I'd agree... a 2-seater version with a fixed / rigid (and removable) rear shelf would be more reasonable, imo... Except, it isn't a £10,000 off roader. Reason one: You can't buy it in the UK Reason two: If you importuned one privately, you'll need to add about £4000 in import duty, £1000 in shipping, £1500 in getting an individual vehicle approval, making it at least a £16,500 off roader. Reason Three: It's 2 wheel dive. You got it down a farm track. A Citroen Ami could handle that farm track. You haven't done a real off road test, so you cant make the claim that it's an off roader. A Jimny is a real off roader, and I suspect about a million time less likely to get stuck than this thing. We must stop spreading misinformation about EVs And yet the fully charged show are the worst misinformation spreaders out there. I like EVs. I hate it when biased journalists give misinformation about them. It's like giving ammunition to those that don't like EVs Stop doing it. Tell the truth.

I agree on the car capability bit for sure. When you do these reviews, you don't want an off-road n00b doing an offroader review, you want someone that's going to push the limits of the car. Like someone who uses a Jimny set up for overlanding. If they'd seen where I'd taken my Forester they would be shocked. A Jimny will be even more capable, and a slightly rutted track is not the proper test ground.

As a Northern Territory Jimny owner, if these had 4WD, a spare wheel, two seats and more batteries they would be interesting, and also how can they still go for appalling cd on an EV, even to the extent of fake roof racks?

Yep, I like it. A diff lock would be handy.

I've tried to take to Elliot, but really find his condescending tone and lack of automotive knowledge tiresome. Will avoid his videos in future.

Electric seats, why? Big screen, why? The big selling point of the jimny is how analogue, simple and pragmatic it is. All they've done with this is copy the shape and thrown unnecessary technology at it. I don't hate it but they could have done so much better with such a great starting point.

Chinese consumers don't want basic. The fact a car under $10K has these features are a selling point not we'll take it out and still charge you $10K. The market for small EV's is HUUUUGE in China so they have to offer more for your money.

Presumably never going to be available in UK? Certainly not at anything like £10k?

I think the fully charged show is intentionally being lackluster on Chinese EV coverage. Pretty much all Chinese EVs they cover are almost 1 year behind their original release.... plus they are mostly cheaper ones which only shows a fraction of what they offer. For example, why don't you cover the new Zeekr 001 FR, which is a proper value super car that achieved 0-100km/h in 1.9 seconds, with 330+ top speed(limited to 280km/h by Chinese law, same thing for Model S plaid), that is a direct competitor to Tesla Model S Plaid? How about the new HyperSSR, Yangwang cars? How about the Denza cars that offers premium driving experience? What are you afraid of, losing your sponsorship from the legacy EU, JP & US Autos by covering too much goodies from "the other side"?
