Malaysian here. So, you may not be familiar with some of food I am going to mention. First of all, my mum's chicken curry is the best in the world. Plain thosai, Idly with hot sambar is heaven. Any true blue Malaysian would agree prawn sambal (made with blended chili paste) is life. For authentic Chinese cuisine, one dish that always tops is hotplate tofu. With rice, it's heaven. Pair it with butter prawns or nestum prawns. Rice congee with light soya sauce and white pepper powder is the ultimate comfort food. For Malay cuisine: Tom Yam soup is hard to beat. (I know it's Thai in origin, don't kill me.) Satay (chicken/mutton/beef meat on stick grilled over charcoal) with peanut sauce/gravy is so so good.
