I’ve been hunting around for a couple of hours online for practical, easy, manipulate ideas like the ones you’ve shared. You gave me better ideas than anywhere else I’ve looked. I plan to put together a bunch of these activities with all the necessary items, and present them to my son and daughter-in-law as a Christmas gift. They have a 12 months old who likes to play with anything that isn’t a toy.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Jan! I absolutely LOVE that Christmas gift idea! I hope your grandbaby loves these activities! My son is almost two now and I joke that we’re just going to give him household objects for Christmas because that’s STILL what he likes to play with the most 😆.

i really love this activities ..as uve just said they develop fine motors..what else are they developing?
@PocketfulofParenting Жыл бұрын
So glad you enjoyed the activities! They're developing SO MUCH from the time they are infants! Fine motor skills, gross motor skills (which have to do with the larger muscle groups of the body and how they move around), language skills, cognitive skills (how their brain solves problems, explores new concepts and figures out the world), and social-emotional skills (learning about feelings and emotions - for a baby, this may look like a parent talking to them or making facial expressions). Even when they are very young, point things out, let them explore their environment safely and talk to them constantly! Their brains are picking up so much more than we can see when they are that young. Hope this helps! Thanks for being here! 💜

Thank you, thank you so much for all these great activities!! I babysit my sweet granddaughter who is 10 months and all of these will work great for her. One activity I thought of and you may mention it somewhere else but it is sticking bows on the walls, etc. It's kind of like your Post it Notes. I get bows at the dollar store and she loves it. I look forward to all the other videos you have made and those in the future. I also wanted to mention she has a brother who is four and your idea of having an older sibling kind of do the prep for the activity is excellent. He will love it!! Thanks again and your son is adorable.

My little boy is 12.5 months and not interested at all in posting activities or filling containers. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to help him other than showing him?x
@PocketfulofParenting3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara! Yes, this is absolutely normal. Just like adults, children have different preferences. I create these videos to demonstrate different options that you can do to help your child strengthen certain skills. They absolutely do not have to do all of them. My son definitely likes some activities more than others and sometimes he doesn't want to do a certain activity at all, in which case I just try and film it myself in order to demonstrate it. I would recommend continuing to provide the materials for him to explore and see what he does with them. He will likely start participating in these activities at a later time. At this age, they are still exploring the world around them and figuring out how things work, so they're pretty much always learning something! You're doing great, momma! Keep it up! 💕

I know it can be such a struggle to do activities when you're little one is still in that stage! You may find this video helpful. It's all about taste-safe sensory activities for babies and toddlers, so everything is okay if they put it in their mouths. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npi8mYljqqmjiLs When doing activities like the ones mentioned in this video, start with larger objects first, then as you get more comfortable, work down to smaller items. Take it slow and only do what your comfortable with while completely supervising your little one! Hope this helps a bit! Enjoy!
