Fun Cup UK 2024: Round 7 - Brands Hatch 4-Hour Race Highlights - Team Ratters Racing

The Fun Cup UK season continued for 2024 as Team Ratters Racing headed to Brands Hatch for yet another 4-hour endurance race - but the day didn't exactly go to plan
Team Ratters Racing drew P3 on the grid of 21 cars, and elected the youngest of the family, John, to take the race start for his second ever time. John couldn't have completed the starting procedure much better, going side-by-side with the VapeClub car for the entirety of lap 1 before completing the move with a brave hold around the outside at Surtees which turned to the inside at Clearways. He then proceeded to chase down the leader, setting up a pass with a fake into Paddock Hill bend and then a switchback to the inside at Druids - to the excitement of the rest of the Ratters Racing crew!
Sadly though, only a few laps later, disaster struck! After being shuffled wide at Clearways by the Uvio car, John had got a brake issue which he did not yet know about - but he soon would. As he hit the brakes for Paddock Hill, the car showed no signs of slowly down. Realising the lack of stopping power, John dived to the inside to avoid making contact with the MJ Tec car, pumping the brake again - but to no avail. It was already too late, and John was launched over the rear left tyre of the Uvio car and sent straight into the barrier. He was lucky to walk away from this crash unscathed, but the car sadly did not fair so well.
From hero to zero in mere moments, but that's racing for you! The Team Ratters Racing squad hope to be back out at the next round at Donington Park in around 4 weeks time - but this will depend on the repair costs for the damaged car. But Team Ratters really hope that this isn't how their season ends!
