I was contacted by staff at a shop - they had a feral that was poorly. I took him in and nursed him back to health (it had a nasty infection in the nasal cavity). That was 4 years ago. I still see him around (he's ringed so I know its him, plus he has distinctive feathering). He's paired off and had offspring too. One of the brighter sides of seeing a successful treatment/release! On the flip side, I've had pigeons come in that I thought I had managed to save, only for them to suddenly pass with little or no warning (and certainly no time to intervene with medication).

I always enjoy your videos and the information you share. This one is no exception. EXCEPT, it does make me think about the inevitable days finding a bird that has passed on, and how it can seem to come out of nowhere. These guys seem spry and healthy right up to the end.

Hi, thanks for asking! The big picture is a mandala I made of moulted Wood Pigeon feathers, the colourful pigeon is a piece of art I made called #glitterchicken, the glass pigeon is Lalique, the yellow pigeon plant pot is a vintage piece and the small pigeon portrait of 'Wyatt' is by Ashley Dietrich who runs Olive's Place Dove and Pigeon sanctuary :-)

Hey I have a quite small cage 76cm long 57cm high and 53cm wide is this an okey size for not permanent birds? I rescue the sick and injured and most of the time they will be out the cage (depending on there health)
@literallynobody54513 жыл бұрын
It depends on the situation. My rescue has a broken wing so she needs to be in a very small enclosure Bc she doesn’t have any balance. If the bird is ill and the cage is only for a couple weeks or so I’d say it ok. But do your own research and consult a vet.

Can you do a video of how to build a pigeon aviary
@thecrazypigeonlady87313 жыл бұрын
Hi Brysen, unfortunately my experience in keeping pigeons is only indoors as Ive never had a garden big enough for a loft or aviary so Ive never built one :-( However, there is a book I can recommend for getting started with pigeons and it does have a section on lofts and aviaries - ive put a link below. There are also some pet pigeon and pigeon rescue facebook groups with members there that keep their birds outdoors who may be able to give you good advice :-) www.amazon.com/Pigeons-Complete-Pet-Owners-Manual/dp/0764129910

Hiya! I'm looking to having a pair of domestic pet pigeons. Do you have any advise? If it would be ok I would love to have a quick chat.
@thecrazypigeonlady87313 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose, check out my Pigeons as Pets beginners guide series playlist, lots of info there to get you started. There will be 10 episodes in all, episode 6 is coming soon! The vast majority of the advice is also applicable to the keeping of doves too :-)

Do u let your pigeon go out and fly?
@thecrazypigeonlady87313 жыл бұрын
Not outdoors, no. Being a fancy pigeon shes not as interested in flying and exercise. I put the cage outside on a sunny day though and ler her get fresh air and her vitamin d!
