After 19 years of following HxH (from the 1999 anime, to the 2011 one, to the manga in that order), I was today years old when I realized why it's called Hunter Hunter. The main protagonist himself is a hunter hunter, because for the most part of the story he was hunting his father, who is a hunter too. Not to mention that Kite (who was the very first character that was introduced in the manga) was also a hunter hunter in that he was also hunting the same person our main protagonist was.

He used Gon's greatness to put himself down, he didn't feel worthy of Gon's friendship. It's only after he frees Alluka and Nanika and saves Gon that he becomes fully happy.

Gin isn’t the worst dad in anime. I mean, he didn’t force his kid to fight angels in a giant robot with no care for his mental sanity. It's as if the entire Hunter industry is taking advantage of insanely fun loving people, using them to take care of dangerous shiz like the Ants and stuff. If the dangerous shiz provides them with "fun" as they're main objective in life then they absolutely have nothing holding them back on doing said dangerous shiz. This approach would be way more effective than hiring people such as Kurapika for example who would be somewhat reluctant to take on Greed Island since it doesn't align with his goal as there's no point of risking death before completing said goal. With Hisoka there's no risk since the "stimulation" he receives from playing greed island IS his goal. It's a nasty system but it works.

You are absolutely wrong about hisoka. Everything he does is to fight strong opponents. He treats them as his toys. He goes as far as to fight chrollo on his terms. He is happy when he fights them. Also pariston isn't lost. He admires netero and even in the election arc, at the end he shows his respect towards netero. He admires netero because he is like him. Both are these people that try to have fun in everything they do. For them everything is like a game just like hisoka. Killua also left his home to have "fun". He met Gon and went with him just to have fun and forget about his assassin duties. Killua was lost at the start but at the end he knew what he wanted to do.
