The thing about Pouf is that you're not meant to like him. In fact you're meant to dislike him. He's the one trying to bring the King back to his cold, evil "purpose". He's the perfect foil to Komugi, who brings out the good in Meruem. Honestly the true antagonist of the Chimera Ant arc is Pouf, not Meruem. So even though he's annoying and supremely unlikeable, he fulfilled his purpose as a character and thus he is a great villain.

But the original comment gave the view that he was screwing around not just for his own fun, but also as a sort of tribute to Netero. We all know Netero was absolutely unhinged so it would be fitting that Pariston would cause total chaos at the election to honor Netero. My first time watching the arc, I never even though Pariston might have other reasons than screwing around with everyone. Now I see that maybe there were other reasons too.

I like Shoot. The way his interaction with Killua and made him realize how much of a coward he is, which connects well with his ability and highlights character progression that in the palace invasion, his reaction to how brave Gon was, impacted him so much that he solidified his resolve and became brave in that instance. So brave that his nen got stronger from the encounter and had just *knew* that covering his right eye is going to unlock his full power. He is the only one who managed a prolonged engagement with Youpi. Besides knuckle plus moral combo.

A lot of Hunter X Hunter's magic comes from a re-watch. That is what makes it one of the best so it's weird to hear a discussion where 2 o the guys only watched it once. You don't re-watch it to re-experience mainly hype and memorable parts but also because you see tons of stuff you didn't notice the first time around. You also see scenes in a very different light on a re-watch, especially scenes involving Gon's psyche. Re-watching HxH feels like a moderetly different experience each time and you walk away with a different appreciation for the series until you've pretty much caught about everything. Watching it once doesn't give you the full experience and that's the mark of great media. A great film and a great series like Breaking Bad always gives you more to digest on revisits and HxH is the same way when. I love watching reactions to HxH or re-watching with new friends because I'm often surprised with a new watcher's interpretations of scenes or what details they noticed that I didn't even after multiple re-watches.

Kinda disagree, I think CAA might be better for some people on rewatch, but there's nothing like a first time watch of HxH. The unpredictability of it makes it so great, and that's not something you can reexperience. While a rewatch is good for picking up on nuance, subtle foreshadowing and appreciating the writing that goes into the series, I still think in terms of enjoyment HxH is the best for a first time viewer due to that unpredictability factor that keeps you on the edge throughout.

One thing that I think was forgotten about the show was Killuas inner battle to freedom from Illumi and the pain he went through, especially when he realized that he wasn't enough to stop Gon and that hurted him so much, that part where Gon said "You have it easy Killua", that was brilliant to me, I love Gons decent into darkness but the way Killua had so much inner conflict was amazing

No they weren't allowed because Pariston's side stopped Netero from bringing better help. Netero had to really argue just to bring Morel and Knov. The former 2 explain Pariston making their mission difficult. The Tiger&Dragon also talk about wanting to go and that Knov&Morel weren't qualified for such a job. The line about not bringing people who may be eaten was just for Gon, Killua, and the other students plus truly unqualified Hunters. Not for the best Hunters who Netero tasked with an even crazier mission.

I really liked this over the rant cafe just because it not entertaining to watch speech lights around a head in a circle. The fact you have different emoting avatars for everyone helps. The main reason I do like watching Nux Taku is the fact it is different from having a moving body real or cgi or animated. I don't want to know what Nux, Melody, Ironmouse and other look like because it is the weird characters that make it fun even lost pause I love when I see his avatar on screen during a game play trough. Not that I don't seeing nobles reactions but you all have great voices and should be voice actors or at least do scrip readings of movies shows anime it is an easy thing to do and hard to demonitize I think food for thought love you all.

The Hunter Association gets involved and act as surveillance for their version of United Nations. The emperor funding the expedition has 14 princes that are going and one of the princes is an owner of some scarlet eyes. So kurapika is working as a body guard for the youngest prince to infiltrate and get the eyes back. The phantom troupe is on the boat as well unknown to kurapika so they can steal any treasure brought back from the new world, also hisoka is on the boat because there is bad blood between them. The emperor has also started a succession war where the last surviving prince on the boat will be crowned king by the time they reached the new continent. That's where the story is and it's hype

So, Im with animac when he said we didnt fully understand why Gon wanted to become a hunter at first. I only learned later after finishing the show (like a month ago mind you) that the 2011 anime SKIPPED alot of chapter one in the manga because the 1999 adaptation did it already. There we learn how Gon met Kite, he gave Gon his fathers liscense, and from there Gon wanted to become a hunter to find his dad. The 2011 show did a lot of what FURRU METALLO ALCHEMISTO BRUZZAHOODO did, in that they skipped a lot of the first arc because '03 already did it

The reason the Hunter association didn't get involved in the Chimera ant arc was because the government was trying to suppress information about the ants. Nobody knew about the existence of the ants except a very select group of hunters who, if I'm not mistaken, were beast hunters like Kite.
