I had a laugh when I saw that sandwich. Theres something simply happy and very much down to earth with you, which I like a LOT. You are not afraid of honestly sharing your ups and downs. Others make headlines about their big bad choices which boils down to really not much, leaving you to think they are always being on top doing the hard choices right and succesful. Keep on doing that, I envy your courage. Just subscribed dreaming of buying a boat.

A tip for protecting aluminium stuff in a Marine Environment that may help, such as with Solar Panel Frames. I suppose you may have heard of Liquid Diamond Silicon Polish for Cars ? Well there's a Marine one, sorry can't remember the make, but I used to get it from Chandlers in big Yellow bottles, and it was guaranteed for 10 years. I used tonuse it for all sorts of things, and when dad replaced Fascias and Soffits for upvc ones on the house, we tried to overcome the soft upvc skin problem, by giving them a coat of the Marine Polish, as soon as the protective film was peeled off. We did that in 189 orv1990, and today they still look brand new. Only cleaning since, has been an occasional quick power wash! Could be ideal to do the Solar panel frames with, as sea air is deadly for aluminium. Its a liquid, and easy to apply with a microfiber cloth or similar. May be worth using it on the glass as well when clean and dry, as it could beveasy to clean after. Nonocrystalline Solar panels last ovdr 25 years. Polycrystalline only seem good for 6 to 7 years, according to a friend in Florida who has been testing panels for over 40 years.Used that Polish on a friend's boat above the waterline, and years later, it was still gleaming. Hope that helps. Best Wishes. Bob. 🙂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Great video. Did we hear right that you can sail faster than you can motor? IE the engine cannot get you up to hull speed? (1.27 x the square root of waterline length) Seems odd. Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
@ChasingCurrents
@ChasingCurrents 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you guys. Yes thats about right, our cruising speed under engine is about 3.9knts boat speed and under sail we are faster. Our engine when at max revs will move us 5.5knts though just not feel good for it. Hope you are all well. All the best brynn and jade 😁

depends on the hp of the engine. it sounds like a single cylinder so not likely to be more than 10 hp.my last boat had the same problem.couldnt go through panama canal as couldnt go fast enough '

It's always good to have two gas bottles - they always seem to run out when I'm trying to make morning coffee :p I also have a little alcohol burner for emergencies. I unfortunately ignored my own advice on my last passage, and had a bad time because of it.
@ChasingCurrents

We actually got ours of a guy on Facebook. Essentially its a rope with 2 hoops either end with a hook in the middle. I hope this helps, all our best and thanks for commenting 🙂
