Won't be long until you're sick of the sun and will need a Bimini 😜 I always find it funny how in UK we try make the most of every hour of sunshine, but spend time trying to avoid it if you go far south enough.

I'd love to hear more about the history of some of these castles if possible. Blue sharks explains the lack of game for your speargun. The sharks are starving from overfishing.
@ChasingCurrents
@ChasingCurrents 2 жыл бұрын
There's a surprising lack of information at all the castle (and attractions) in these areas which is unfortunate as we'd be quite interested too! For the one when we visit Baiona here's what we found out: The first appearance of the castle in record dates from the year 60, when Julius Caesar conquered baiona. Apart from the romans the visigoths and muslims also left their marks in the castle. In the year 1493, Baiona became the first village to know about the discovery of America as one of the caravels travelling back to Spain arrived there. The Catholic Kings used this place as a defence and control of this maritime and territory of the Rías Baixas and they also expanded its use so that there were more families living inside the walls of the castle. Not much information but it's still a fascinating place to explore! We do love a castle

Cabo Finisterra. The end of the world in Roman times. Nowadays the end of the Camino de Santiago for those that decide to walk on past Santiago. I recognised the lighthouse but it was nice to see from your angle at sea. Yes some beautiful beaches near there. I was looking out for the yellow arrow signs on the path you walked on but couldn’t see any. Nice video. It must be great to travel by sea.

Such a beautiful unique place. We definitely didn't stay around here quite as long as we'd have liked, but it was amazing. It's a unique view seeing places for the first time from the sea, you almost don't know what to expect. Especially if emerging from the fog, or knowing that the next place is an entirely different country. We've absolutely loved the adventure so far 😊

Great video again, love Jades comments;-) I bet the sharks were lurking what to me looks like mackerels. You would think they were herding the school waiting till dusk for a snack. Definitely looking forward to the next episode. Are you thinking of going to the Caribbean? If you go to the north in the Bahamas let me know. Theres a gem for you.

Nice video. I've never been to Galicia so it's interesting to see it from the sea. It looks lovely. I hope any fog stays well away. I wonder if the habits of marine life is really changing, or if people are just noticing and recording it more when they do? It wouldn't surprise me if they suddenly disappeared again for no obvious reason.
@ChasingCurrents
@ChasingCurrents 2 жыл бұрын
We hope the fog stays away too 😁. Galicia is so awesome to explore by sea, lots of awesome anchoring and trails to explore as well as cool little towns. I always wonder this about marine life too, unfortunately I dont this we will fully notice the answer. Its unusual for there to be this many blue sharks inshore from what I've read but it isn't to say the numbers are more or less just that they are there now. There is some interesting blue shark research in the Adriatic sea that I read about a few years ago as well following were they are breeding. I think alot of marine life is shuffling around at the minute while seasonal changes seem slightly out of sync to the "norm". Thanks for the comment 👍 😀

In light/changeable wind anchorages I always prefer to have a stern anchor, way more comfortable. Keep your bow facing roughly seaward. Plus it gives a little more security if the main one drags, which it shouldn't! Don't forget add the height of the bow to your scope calculations, and more is nearly always better!

Lovely vid. Yes, that Atlantic can be a bit chilly. Heading off to Portugal on Tuesday, my mates boat is actually in Faro, which is handy. Only problem is that we can't get her in the water until the 30th. We were looking at the weather grib last night. Seems like we may be able to catch some southerlies off shore which should get us up past where you are now. We'll be back in Lydney in a trice! (Yea right! Sailing always works like that, haha 😂!)
