I have been listening to Nate sing since I was a sophomore in high school. That's over four years ago. Kind of crazy though, a week after I started listening to The Format the band broke up. I can't say I like this album as much as his previous albums, but they deserve all the credit they get. And honestly, the only way to listen to Nate is by listening to him live. Good video.

If the vocoder is what makes it seem like Nate is singing with a whole group, I really like that effect. It's sounds more powerful because it seems like a swarm of voices singing right in your ears! I love it!

You know what, I'll be the first to tell you that I hate the unnatural shit clogging up music today, because it takes the focus away from real musicianship and puts entertainment in the hands of unfeeling computers. But here, that technology is used tastefully, and it doesn't detract from the artistry or musicianship. At all. We still see perfectly that he's a decent singer without help, there's a strong, melodic vocal line, and there's also something you hardly ever see anymore: good harmony.

Okay you can't say Nate cant sing until you see one of their shows. They have he best stage presents i've ever experienced, most of that comes from him not missing a note.

It's a vocoder not auto tune. It's not used for pitch correction but for stylistic purposes. Take it easy people haha.

@capitalq hahah that's what I did too! KZbin was my main source. I could never find out why my newer canons were sounding so bad though. So thanks for mentioning that! I ended up getting a panasonic lumix and that has been pretty decent so far.

@MrQwerty8996 its not autotune its vocoding. spreads his voice into a chord that the keyboardist plays. pretty cool actually. you can hear his regular voice within it

yea its ridiculous. the previous generation hates on modern musical technology cherished hendrix, rolling stones, beatles etc. while the one previous to that hated the fact that the guitar changed from acoustic to electric. the one previous to that hated that classical music died. isn't the point just to like what's going in your ears? who cares how?
