Hahaha, Pam... thank you. You brought up a haha memory for me regarding markers. We, too, called them "Magic Markers". I was .... I think 8 or 9, and still tended to be a bit rough on stuff, inadvertently. I can't remember details, but this is pretty close to it: Me, playing with (narrow-tip) magic markers, gets angry cus yet ANOTHER tip has retreated into the marker and didn't want to "play fair". Older (by 3 years) brother who lost his patience fixing my markers exactly 1 marker ago: THEY'RE MAGIC MARKERS. YOU ARE KILLING THE MAGIC! Me, startled as he tells me that the "magic" of a marker is its ability to lay down color with a GENTLE touch on paper. No pressure needed. He then fixed the marker, said it was the last time and walked away. (Can't blame him, tbh). So, a rather stunned me sits there, magic markers around me, completely floored by the fact that this was possible. Tested it out. HOLY SMOKES. He was RIGHT! It WAS Magic! (Think on it... pens and pencils require a bit of pressure to transfer ink/graphite to paper. We expect it. Markers do NOT.) Btw, I never did that to a marker again, unless it was a crappy marker to begin with. Anyway... my brother's theory of why Markers are actually Magic Markers. And... even though I now know WHY it works, it's still magical to me =D

LOL!!! Thats hilarious!!! Hahaha!!! Your poor brother was over putting the magic back!! We used to call them magic markers too but for me, I thought there was actual magic in the marker and was pretty disappointed the first time I used them (about age 5ish maybe) and got nothing but ink hahaa

I think there was a brand Magic Markets at one point.
@seameology Жыл бұрын
Magic Markers were invented in 1952. They were the inspiration for Sharpies. If I remember correctly, the magic part was you could still write with them when you wrote on a ceiling or wall orientation. The ink would stop flowing in pens when writing sideways. I couldn't find that on Google. Anyway, I think your brother was mostly correct! What a creative kid!
@abigailphoenixthepaperaddi2501 Жыл бұрын
@Seameology ooooo, thank you for the added history on it! Yeah, that would, indeed, seem like magic - the ability to write upside down or on a wall... And some very, VERY wise and creative people immediately (or, well, soon enough lol) saw a million uses for this magic flowing "ink"... and i, for one, am thankful. Good grief, how boring life would have been before markers! Meh, we wouldn't have known and likely would have used whatever we could to be creative. It doesn't surprise me that they are the precursor to Sharpies. ❤️ my sharpies. ☺️ And yeah... bro could be pretty imaginative at times. The fact that he was (kind of) close is amazing... but the dude always was way smart. It's one of my favorite stories about my bro, and I still can't pick up any kind of marker without thinking of that day and smiling.

What a neat idea! I thought of gluing a paper clip to it. I'm glad you showed the washi tape as the 'border' to do the stamping. As I still don't have stamps or ink pads yet, I thought, oh, I could use some pretty washi tape I have and be done, or use the washi and then just some stencils and colored pencils or paint. So, my 'to do' list this weekend is a smidge longer!

I just realized the only Washi-Tape I have is a tiny 3-pack I picked up at The Dollar Tree! Darn, I need some Washi too! Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to try something new! Of course I'm sure a similar technique/look could be achieved with supplies I already have. •BUT• It'd probably take me DAYS to FIND the stuff in my 'Never-Ending Crafty Storage Closet!' I'd be able to go to the craft store to buy supplies; Create a few Sets of Stationary; Wrap them up real pretty & mail them out for my RAK's this month~All in WAY LESS TIME than it'd take me to find the supplies I bought a while ago & never used!
