Years ago there was a popular blanket called a "crazy quilt" which was made in a similiar manner; all size pieces of fabric were top stitched just like this. It probably was actually done this way by pioneer women to make blankets using up scraps. I like the idea of using what's on hand and not throwing things away. I grew up learning to be frugal and I'm still that way.

I just love listening to you. I think you are absolutely adorable and I love your interaction with your baby girl. She has such a sweet voice. I have also found that making fabric journals is easier for me. I have a harder time with the paper ones. Ive also started to mass make embellishments. Seeing how you keep yours all together has helped me. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and your knowledge of journaling. The noise in the background is not bothering me at all. I do wish that I could become more comfortable with stitching

Love that you did fabric journals today... I feel you on the kitchen flooring project...my kitchen has been gutted since Nov. 3rd...and they and installing flooring in there and I am having my entryway, hallways and living room all patched, primered, and repainted to match the brand new kitchen. Complete chaos...

If you have enough fabric, completely cover the envelope with the thick fabrics and then add your thinner fabrics on top. Removes the “dips” and further supports the idea of patchwork. You could also (if your sewing machine has them) use decorative stitching to give the illusion that it’s a crazy quilt. I have a LOT of fabric, so I see this in my future, for sure!

Do you know I actually can't remember if I have done an all fabric cover or not! Lol. I think I did a Cinderella journal using only fabric for the cover, but I can't remember for sure. Too many journals!!!! I might have to give it another go (or first go quite possibly). It's so nice to have our kitchen back, thank you. Have fun with your collage cover x

Love how these journal covers turned out!! So pretty and nice to have some ready to go!! Thanks so much for sharing this. And no need to apologize for noise...5 days a week from 8am to midnight we get to listen to Navy jets circling right overhead doing their practice flights. I'd take the hammering noise!!! 😂

Thank you so much for your understanding about the noise, you must be really good at blocking out noises now? X

Wow you should try living in north Devon, the whole village has at least one power cut a week. It’s like living back in the 70’s. 😻

Love the fabric cover ideas! I have an embroidery machine and would love to figure out ways to use it on journal covers 🤔

A note for those who want to use lighter fabrics or silks and worry about glue bleed through - turn the fabric into book cloth. Get some of the double-sided iron-on bonding adhesive (HeatnBond is one brand). Iron the back of the fabric you want to use, then iron the other side onto tissue paper (like you pack gifts with). The fusing will hold the cloth to the paper, the paper will absorb the glue. Unless you go really really overboard, it shouldn't bleed through!

@@shabbydabbydoodah I've used this method with thin silks and linen and it works beautifully. 😁

Oh thank you so much Susie, I really appreciate your kindness. Yes, it’s shocking how many different projects we have covered in these mass making workshops isn’t it? I started them because I struggled to make more than one of any item but they really are my favourite to film now, I love that it’s so productive and that we can just relax and chat 🙃. Thank you so much for supporting me and my channel x

I really enjoyed watching the variety of covers being made. Such beautiful fabrics, makes me want to go shopping, but the numbers are too high for covid in this area, so I will be staying home a bit longer. However, nothing can stop me from doing a little shop online, lol. Love how you've added bits of lace sections to the cover. That is really gorgeous. I must get brave and try this. I am such a doily and old lace cloth hoarder.

I know what you mean about the numbers at the moment. It’s getting very worrying isn’t it? Shopping online is definitely best, hope you find some nice fabrics. I know what you mean about hoarding the doilies especially, as I very rarely find any so actually using them is really hard to make myself do, lol. Stay safe x
