Rupert seems like the most affable & nicest guy on the planet. He’s still in business. In fact Hello Deli celebrated 30 years yesterday. Paul Shaffer was in attendance & gave a speech. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Rupert truly is. He talked to me and my mom/dad/sister for like 45 minutes while letting us take pictures and he told us stories while we ate lunch. The dude literally could see how FRIGGIN excited I was at age 14 to be meeting him and he even joked about how he isn't a real celebrity. The world was so different back then. Now any Jerkoff with a phone can be famous doing what Dave and Rupert did back in the day.

This bit changed my life. Along with Mujibur and Sirajul. It's Supah Cleem. Daily life at a Catholic high school was hell, my parents had recently gotten divorced and I was witnessing my Vietnam Vet father spiral into being a shell of the man I thought he was. All adults seemed lost in self delusion. David Letterman seemed to be one of the few people in existence who was aware of the absurdity of life and his approach to that was to laugh. I'm certain the fact that I could touch base with that humor five nights a week kept me from doing something drastic.

They were very simple stuff but they were really funny! None of today's late night hosts come even close to what Letterman did! Letterman and Carson will always be the best. Leno wasn't even this funny as these guys were, Conan tries really hard but he doesn't have what Dave had. Fallon, Kimmel, and the rest of them are trash.
