GREAT VIDEO. REALLY HELPED WITH THE INSTALL. HOWEVER, I DID ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM WITH THE LAST TOP BRACKET BOLT. IT WAS TOO BIG FOR THE TOP BRACKET HOLE. I SIMPLY USED THE OEM BOLT WHICH I PULLED OUT AND RE-USED IT. IT FITS THROUGH THE TOP BRACKET HOLE. NO ISSUES WITH FITMENT NOR ALIGNING THE HOLES.

There are two wire plugs you got to pull out. The top one goes into the bracket and the other one that is more of a square plug is the one I've had issues with. Did you run into that issue. That plug would not go back into the original hole and I didn't see a plug on the bracket like they made for the other plug. Any help is appreciated. Other than that the install was a breeze. This is on a 2019 Ram 2500 8ft bed Limited in case of that matters when it comes to those two plugs. Not sure if the other trim packages are set up the same.

I’ve got a 2022 Power Wagon and I am staring at the same issue I believe. There’s a big rectangular plug mounted in and a smaller rectangular one below it. Did you find a fix?? Thanks!
@nlpyles2145 Жыл бұрын
@@alexmcdonell1452 the only fix i came up with was to ziptie it so it would not move. I have not had any issues so far. My concern was vibration from the road whether it was on or off road and it's not given me any issues. Not an idea fix but that is what I've come up with.

Great video!! I ordered one of these for my 2020 3500 and there is not allot out there. I have also been seeing allot of reviews about the bolts not lining up or clearance problems at the hitch bracket. It looks like you had no issues. Thanks
@funbro13 жыл бұрын
No issues at all, went on very smooth and relatively easy. With the height of the new 3500's and 2500's this is almost a must have. Thanks for watching.

@@funbro1 I just got mine in today and got it installed. You must have gotten lucky. The reviews I read about some holes lining up were the same on mine. I had to keep all the bolts loose just to get the bumper mount bolts to go through the holes and line up with the truck. Once I got those in it was no real problem to tighten everything back up and torqued. The last issue I had was my pad seamed to be a little warped. I had to clamp the ends to seat it in the groove to put the small Allen screws in. They would not even start in the metal backers. All in all, it’s done.

I can't decide on which step to get, the MOPAR or AMP?
@funbro13 жыл бұрын
I was originally looking to get the Mopar step but they were on recall when I went to make my purchase. In hindsight I'm glad I went with the Amp Research because it looks to be a little bit wider than the Mopar one. Either way you go will be good. I love mine. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the tutorial - the instructions failed to show how the assembly attached to the truck. My installation was very difficult because the bolt holes did not line up after assembling the tow halves together. And, I had to install the upper bolt all the way through the bracket before installing the bracket to the frame. I rate the quality of manufacturing of this AMP RESEARCH STEP A 2 OUT OF 5. Because of the fussing to get everything to fit together due to misalignment, the install took 2-1/2 hours instead of the 30 minutes it should have. If I didn’t have an impact wench, the install would have failed because the misaligned holes for the upper bracket bolt was binding on the bolt shank so much that it took the torque and speed of the impact wrench to finish the job.

I’ve heard that the The holes did not line up on many of these steps. I found the directions to be not so good as well and was hoping this video would help some people out. Thanks for watching.

Your video made it look pretty easy to install....however, I didn't have the same experience. I think the editing in your video didn't show some of the problems of bolts not lining up and trouble assembling. I had trouble from the start with bolts not lining up or being too big. Holding the assembly and trying to line up a bolt on the bumper bracket was very challenging. I would have used the bolts I removed if the buiIt-in washer hadn't been too big. I spent a long time on this job and never did finish. The top bolt on the bumper bracket would only go halfway in and stopped. Going to half to take it to a shop and have them do something. Nice step but a pain to install.
@funbro13 жыл бұрын
Sorry about your bad experience, however it was pretty basic for me to install. The only editing was to keep the video from being boring. After all who wants to watch a 12 minute video that includes 7 minutes of someone turning a screw. I realize that everyone does not have the same mechanical abilities and that is in part why I like to make these videos. Wish I could help you out. Thanks for watching.
@BayBoy983 жыл бұрын
@@funbro1 Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you edited out problems you may have had. The video was very well done. However, after seeing other comments there is obviously a problem with some of their bolts. I think you got a good batch....many of us didn't. I know how to drive a bolt. Pretty straightforward. The first two bolts went fine. Both of the next two attaching the linkage to the brace were trying to go in crooked. Finally fought through that. Next, the bottom bolt when attaching the unit to the bumper bracket went fine. The top one, the one very difficult to get to, will only go in halfway. You were using the socket wrench extender on that one. I did the same and also tried my impact driver and it just wouldn't go in. i swapped the bolts and same result. I might just trim down the washer on the old bolt and use it. I have reached out to AMP Research and waiting to hear back.

@funbro1 That price is crazy high.. I just purchased a RAM last week.. going through buyers remorse now.. was considering Ford. I had a Nissan I traded for the Ram, Which I had traded a F150 for that spit out spark plugs.. When I purchased the 2016 Nissan Titan I purchased a OEM bed step for $50.. not sure why they went up so high.. Rest of the Diesel truck made me decide to never purchase another Cummins Diesel or Nissan... lost thousands in a trade..for an New Ram Limited that seems like less quality interior than the Titan XD PR.

Very similar, however the OEM looked to have a smaller step than the AMP Bed Step. Also when I went to purchase the OEM I was told that Ram had a recall and that they could not order them until... I have seen the AMP Bed step prior to this install and have always liked the quality. As for the OEM I would guess that it is good quality also. Thanks for watching.
