Velossa tech makes a ram air intake snorkel as well. Color options and yes it work! Installed mine last week. 30 degree drop in temps at the manifold and better boost with the air flow. Induction noises are primo and no water / rain fall does not effect the performance. I live in FL rains everyday and no hinderance to performance. Works perfect with stock air box and helps a lot. No tune needed but I’d get one done for max benefits

I’ve been thinking about getting this but do you know if it fit with Cobb redline CF intake?
@lucian71827 ай бұрын
@@miguelc3033I have seen 1 guy that used the velossa tech with a redline intake, he said some modifications were necessary to make it work but didn’t specify.

I don’t think rain would affect it. I have a similar car 03 wrx with c west grille and COBB sf intake and I have been in all types of crazy weather and nothing reaches the filter even in huge rain storms and the c-west grille is a bit more direct imo than this.
@WRXMAN-ms2mm4 жыл бұрын
I realize that it rains a 💩 ton in your local but the day it rains as much as your pressure washer and you are driving you may have the wrong mode of transportation; may I recommend a boat, because the roads will be flooded 🤣🤣! I agree with you on the wrinkle black colour, that's what I have and the yes quality is top drawer. OEM part is pretty sad 😢. That being said I fully appreciate that the part will not direct the increased directed air flow to your air intake set up, so the part is more for aesthetic. Us OEM filter box guys do get the benefit.

I have the black one, definitely a nice addition to the engine bay. I ran into the issue of the air shroud behind the grill bending a bit because of the bracket next to the hood latch wouldn't allow a flush fit

I call it a snorkel. (not like a land rover one....)

Love the functionality of it, spray it black if already haven’t lol. A lot of work for a part but worth it. Believe regular maintenance/check of intakes in heavy rained areas should be ok 🤙🏽. Also a member of the rainy state

Should try to do some live testing with the rain. Put like a sponge or something at the end of the oem snorkel and see if it gets soaked. Been on edge about getting this due to rain 300 days of the year
@ClementeGalloJr4 жыл бұрын
If anything it'll pull in cool air into the engine bay. But $300 is a deal breaker.
@boostinman71324 жыл бұрын
It is recommended to have a better quality radiator over stock if running this because this does divert air away from the radiator itself which affects the cooling function of the radiator. And if you have a front mount intercooler, you're really taking all the air away from the radiator.
@CarsWithJR4 жыл бұрын
Do you have a better mounting location recommendation for a FMIC so it doesn't effect radiator cooling?
@boostinman71324 жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithJR there isn't one that I know of personally. You have a full aluminum Koyorad if im seeing correctly. So as long as it has a bigger capacity over stock size and dissipates heat better you will be fine. I was more talking to other people who want to run this without upgrading their radiator. Im running a FMIC on my 05 sti and a Mishimoto radiator to support it.
@Ed504824 жыл бұрын
Wrinkle black Or wrinkle red I would say... also did you test the water access into the engine bay with the hood down? I wanted to delete the fog lights on my 16 and run a similar cooling system on the passenger side for the sake of IATs. I don’t have E85 here so I figured more cooling couldn’t hurt..

Do you know if they will be making one that actually covers up those air holes for those of us without the factory air snorkel? I recently installed the Verus hood scoop delete because I too have a FMIC and it dropped my coolant temps around 5 to 7 degrees. I was surprised it made such a difference.

It looks like it generates lift under the hood. Why would you want airflow directed up? That's alot of hours for ?? what kind of performance improvement?
@blakestampley60414 жыл бұрын
James InOregon dissipating the heat. Ultimately, you can put your vehicle under more stress if you’re moving enough heat out of the engine bay.

If people are concerned about the relatively small amount of rain water being sucked into the intake, they probably shouldn't install water-meth kits...

Their website specifies that you do not need a tune, but recommend one to get the most bang for your buck.
@TheU2bstud4 жыл бұрын
K03sport I’m quoting the website, I’m not the subject matter specialist. Please redirect your concern to the company that states this and not me. Thank you. From their website: Smartflow Shroud does not require a tune, but we highly recommend one after installation if you have a chance. It’s similar to a cold air intake, since there’s a noticeable change in the air flow, a tune would maximize the improvement you get from the Smartflow Shroud. So, if you have a plan to get a tune, you could definitely put the Smartflow Shroud on the mods list. In an actual dyno test with the Smartflow Shroud on a fully stock STI, a tune with stock boost, we see more than a 30hps difference on the wheels before/after. The short answer is, not having a tune is fine but getting a tune after installing the Smartflow Shroud will definitely maximize your investment. compressivetuning.com/faq/
