How does functionalism view schooling?

i'll reply just for other people wondering this because evidently im a year late. but, they'd take it upon themselves to say that the structure of education is fine the way it is because it benefits each person individually regardless of their place in society. e.g. school will train a low income, low effort, working class student to be a cleaner because thats all the student has put the effort into be trained for. the entirety of functionalists outlooks are meritocratic so they would say, YOU put that minimum/maximum effort in to achieve that grade so you DESERVE it because theres nothing wrong with the structure of education and how it prepares and socialises students for work. if you decide to do tons of work in school you deserve that A because you took time to put effort in.
