Thanks mr Sal. Now i'm starting to understand it all. My method of learning right now: Make sure the teacher (Sal) written the given information and question on the board. And then pause the video and try to answer the question yourself! If you are wrong, doesnt matter, just play the video til the answer comes up and write down what you did wrong. And try it again!

This is so much easier in computer programming. There you can just create the functions and give it a value.

When I was at school, my teacher return my paper showed a zero mark with a slash (that zero was slashed) and a little comment "you never learn". I spent the years thinking I was stupid and never good at math. But, listening to this, I do learn Functions with ease. Thank you so much. You are a good teacher. I just have to listen to your voice and I learn more what I could have learn in those years back at school.

@maddcat0 it has to be x. because if you use a,b and c then we cannot substitute a into b because a does not equal b. Whereas using x means you can substitute the same x value into any of the functions since x = x. Sorry if i confused you more.

Ahh...I see now. This problem in particular, is like a three part riddle, but you have to have the key/answer in order to move on and solve the next one. Confusing, but nice. Once again you've helped me in understanding my math issues. Thanks!

@kesor6 no dude, if x=6, then you substitute every x with a 6 in the equation. In the first one he said f(5) so x=5, but only for that function.

at 4:36 why do you substitute the f(x-3) with 3? shouldn't you substitute the (x-3) to the f(x) and then solve for 3?

you need to remember the order of operations. first you do multiplication, which is 3 * 0, which equals 0. Then you do addition, which is 5 + 0.
