I think the mask should be in odd number like 3x3 5x5.... so that can replace with the middle value as you done in 1D Convolution.

Excellent video, Sis, I have a question: do we always add a border of zeroes even if the kernel size is smaller than the image and the image already has a border of zeroes? I have a kernel say: 1 2 3 3 2 1 2 1 3 And image say: 0 0 0 0 0 3 3 0 0 3 3 0 0 0 0 0 I have to calculate correlation with minimum zero padding needed, do I still add a border of zeroes in the image and then calculate as you showed? Please let me know, I'll be very grateful
