Technically this is a light weight model. It has 500 millions parameters (~3GB) while gpt-3 had 175 billions (~700GB). I think gpt-4 has 220B. So, while energy consumption of learning ai models is atrocious, this one isn’t as damaging. But I’d prefer ai models not to be made for entertainment if anyone asked me

Honestly, if the companies and governments hadn't already been so far behind in regards of protecting the rights and property of people it wouldn't have happend at this magnitude, they've been completely blindsided. It's more like going onto private property, breaking off a branch and then grafting it to another tree, then doing that a couple more times. Then they shout "it's it's own thing! you can't tell where it came from! where is your proof I did those things! it's a tree in nature, it's free good!" (even though they can know, as the data leaks have shown, there are literally names and everything right there) A real world example would be how if a tree branch hangs onto a walkway you are not allowed to pluck the apple from it, by law it would be considered theft. Ofc as long as you don't literally saw the branch off who's gonna notice and know and care (though if you do find somebody they could hold you liable in court) Now, on the Internet not only is there no protection like that, they can brazenly walk right onto the property and just take everything (i.e. copyrighted material) Anyways, I've just been chatting away, hope you have a good day!

I think the sugar cane thing is also because when you break sugar cane, you usually break lots at once, all adjacent, since sugar cane breaks instantly. Remember this ai was trained on real human gameplay, so it’s view of mechanics is skewed by typical play patterns. Hence the number of sticks and the drops when mining stone with the wrong tool
