Will It Gravity Dye? Neck Fan Fold (Necklace Design)

This tutorial is for an ice dyed gravity neck fan fold design; that some people have referred to as a necklace design. This design is part of my "Will it gravity dye?" series, and I think this design works great for gravity dyeing.

Love it! I think it might be best for women to wear but I really like the design! So far as speckles I think I've come to realize that the only folks who care about that seem to be the artists. Tough to stop them and the wind or a rubberband always seem to get in the way :)

I ended up trying this with a v-neck by accident. We were going on a short overnight trip the next morning and I just had to try this because it looked like that traditional sweater pattern. I meant to grab a crew neck to soda ash soak, grabbed a v-neck and didn't even realize until I pulled it out of my washer after the drain and spin setting. It still worked out great though and my oldest daughter claimed it for herself. Lol.

A quick question, do you rinse your Panda spin dryer to get the soda ash out of it? Does it matter? Thanks !

Yes, I do. I use mine outside, and after I am finished for the day, I rinse the inside and outside with plain water before I put it up inside.

I have an understanding of the color wheel. This technique is to allow the various dyes to move down the shirt and split out into the various dyes that were used to mix the color. A single dye color would make the color more uniform which isn't the look that I am going for.

I saw your video and that reminded me to hustle over to Dyespin to see if they were taking orders today (they were, yay!) I love the splits on this one. I know you don't mind the speckles, but I sure flinched when that Moody Blue spilled onto the back of the shirt! Idea: take a page out of your notebook for dyeing graphic tees: loosely wrap the hanging part of the shirt in a plastic bag until you've got the ice in place. I think the dye would be less likely to go rogue if its covered up and you could gently fan the hanging part of the shirt out after you take the bag off.

Хорошо. Но не очень. Цвета смешиваются и получается грязь. Тона цвет стал не четкий, а грязный. Надо использовать цветовой круг и понимать, как смешиваются цвета.❤
